The top U.S. commander in the Pacific says the U.S. military is pushing for a steady, deliberate approach as it pivots its focus to the Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. military leadership is trying to head off suspicions that its new attention on Asia is aimed at China.

Trying to head of suspicions are they?
Now why on earth would we think it has anything to do with China?

"We are going to take a steady, deliberate and sustainable approach," he said. "We're going to continue to work on our military-to-military relationships with China because it's so important that as China emerges, that we understand each other, that we prevent miscalculation as we go forward."

Miscalculations? The US Government has a superiority complex. So now they are here to work with China? And also to keep them in line?

Go home America. You cant afford to have military in the Asia Pacific. You need to stop overspending. Bringing troops and navy home from the Asia Pacific would save a fortune.

Russia is standing up to the US in Syria. It is only a matter of time before China does the same in the Asia Pacific.

The US Military does not need to be all over the world.

The United States will shift a majority of its warships to the Asia-Pacific region by 2020, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said on Saturday, giving the first details of a new US military strategy.

www.arabtimesonline.com...

The majority of the US War Ships will shift to the Asia Pacific?

It is because this is where all the money is now. That is the only reason.

China said Monday a US decision to shift the bulk of its naval fleet to the Pacific by 2020 was "untimely" and called on Washington to respect its interests in the region.

www.thenews.com.pk...:-China

China does not want the United States here.

Why do they bargain with a military? Can they not send diplomats? WTF?

Every time you bring this up you always seem to forget that the US is a Pacific power, More so than China. We have more Allies than China in the Pacific. As you yourself have claimed China only has who exactly on their side? North Korea.

Ever stopped and asked yourself why?

Hell, Even Vietnam of all countries is aligned with the US Against Chinese expansion into their territorial waters.

WASHINGTON (Jiji Press)--Adm. Samuel Locklear, commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, expressed hopes Friday that security cooperation between Japan and South Korea would be strengthened through the coming trilateral naval exercise also involving the United States.

The exercise, scheduled for June 21-22 off the coast of the Korean Peninsula, will be "a good opportunity for both Japan and [South] Korea to work more closely together with our help," Locklear said at a news conference. He said he hoped for a stronger relationship between Japan and South Korea "on the military side."

Calling Japan and South Korea "cornerstone allies" of the United States in the Asia-Pacific region, the commander said the South Korean army and Japan's Self-Defense Forces "ought to be...interoperable," given the "many mutual interests" of their countries.

www.yomiuri.co.jp...

Could they sound any more deperate if they tried?

It is strange to see the US grovel before South Korea and Japan. south Korea, Japan and Australia hold power over the US now. If any one of us go with China it will make things way harder for the United States in the wealthy Asia Pacific.

well, they did just wipe out like 1/2 to 3/4 of any opposition in the Middle East for the past 10 years and beyond,
the rest is being hacked away at slowly in Syria and other areas as we speak.

so the attention in high commands eyes I suppose would be to continue the process where they left off 50-60 years ago in the Korean Peninsula, and the broader Asian region to begin another process of containment.

my guess is the US is attempting to contain the entire region, to create another controlled opposition to destroy,
and repeat the process.

Australia has no problem with them. The US military forces this on us. I suspect it is the same in places like South Korea where protests against the US are not rare. There is anti-americanism in Japan as well. It is like th TPP agreement. Americans claim it hurts them. No, it is hurting us. American corporations are trying to rip us off. The media twists things.

Why donesnt the United States send diplomats? Why do they negotiate with a military?

For the Most part there has not been any real problems between nations in the Pacific since the end of WW-II

The only one who is really stirring the pot recently is China and their Bastard child North Korea who keeps popping off their crappy rockets over everybody's head.

There are no real problems now. The US is wasting taxpayer money by having military in the Asia Pacific.

And nobody here cares about North Korea. It is only paranoid scared America on the other side of the world that goes on and on about North Korea. Who cares if they test fired something? Why does the US think they can tell other nations what they can do? North Korea has not caused anyone any problems since the war.

Technically speaking a state of war still exists between the US and North Korea which we all know China was a big part of that war.

We all know the US was a big part of it too.

But North Korea has not done anything wrong. I think think should be able to fire off a rocket if they want to. As long as they do not attack anyone I dont think its anyones business.

Yes, there isn't and hasn't been for quite a few decades.

The US is wasting taxpayer money by having military in the Asia Pacific.

I know you like to ignore the facts but most of those Nations prefer having Americans there than the possibility of Chinese expansion.

And nobody here cares about North Korea.

So now you're going to tell us you speak for hundreds of Millions in South Korea, Japan and all points South East now?

It is only paranoid scared America on the other side of the world that goes on and on about North Korea. Who cares if they test fired something?

Those North Korean Missiles are starting to range in on US States like Alaska and Hawaii which puts them squarely in US zone of interests. Never mind that two of our closest Business partners, South Korea and Japan have cooperated with the US to keep an eye on them

It's you who don't care because it doesn't fit into your Fantasy of Australia becoming another Chinese Prefecture...

Why does the US think they can tell other nations what they can do? North Korea has not caused anyone any problems since the war.

Are you that ignorant? They sunk a South Korean Ship then shelled one of their Islands recently killing some South Korean personnel. Not to mention put Japan on a war alert when they test fired one of their missiles.

You like Propaganda pics?

I prefer some of their newer stuff.

Seems a bit more colorful.

Wanna try again?

A North Korean torpedo was responsible for the March 26 sinking of a South Korean navy ship and the deaths of 46 sailors aboard, South Korean officials said.

How ignorant? As ignorant as you? No. Not close.

It is not as black and white as you make it sound. And if you compare the minimal confrontation that the North Koreans have been in compared to war wongering America you start to see who is the bad guy.

Do you like this American WW2 propaganda? Its up your alley.
