I bet everyone has had that feeling of melancholia at some point. you know, that non-specific down feeling.

Do you have any song to couple yours with ?

mine's is, non-coincidentally, Gorillaz - On Melancholy Hill

I won't post links to these songs but YES, definitely a few songs that do this to me are:

Radiohead - Creep

Gary Jules - Mad World (cover song)

The Knife - She's Having A Baby

The Beach Boys - Surfer Moon

100 Years... for sure. I wish I'd known then what I know now. How quickly the seasons of our life pass with such disregard by us.

You may recall Marvin Gaye? He was murdered by his father, a fundamentalist Christian preacher

You want ones to make you cry?

Oh my gosh, dude. I would have mentioned "The Hollies" (He Ain't Heavy) too but that song goes past melancholia for me. That's straight up the saddest song in the world, especially if you have brothers.

I remember, growing up as a late 80's/early 90's kid seeing this public awareness commercial about a young mans' brother who has cancer. I didn't know why his brother was sick at the time, but the power and emotion of the song+commercial would make me cry everytime. I was like 6 or 7.

edit: Bolding the word "cry" doesn't quite explain just how big 'a lump would swell in my throat. It hurt so bad I could only cry otherwise I would have probably died on the spot.

I find that the most melancholic music to me is that which is hauntingly beautiful....
deep instrumentals without words.

It doesn't guide you into any state of being by words alone, but rather, opens you up to dwelling on something that's very personal to you instead...

Like this song;
