Are you daft man? Reagan "signed into law" is the difference. Dear Leader Obama doesn't need no stinking Congress to pass a law, he simply waves his hand and it is done by decree. Crown him and be done with it. Wonder when he starts wearing military garb with a chest full of metals and aviator sunglasses?

I think It's a relief. At least on the law enforcement end of it.
We won't have to take them to the border anymore and watch them BEAT US back to the location we left from.

Too often I see things differently than others and well, such is life, but I have to pitch in on this one.

On this particular subject matter, unlike others, I see this political gesture as equivalent to a "Trojan Horse", used to deceive those with immigration issues mentioned so that the many illegal immigrants can be identified and dealt with in a quiet manner while everyone thinks they are getting a cut in the line and a free walk into Americanism.

Oh man hadn't even thought of that!! Dear Leader Obama is just sucking them in, getting their names and addresses, hmmmm. When it comes time in 2 years for their work card to be renewed a new conservative administration now knows who they are and where they live. Brilliant.

it's what ronald regan did.

I think it's a good idea. bring those people on the tax roles.

they want to shout and scream about creating jobs and bringing in more revenue, then everything that's addressed that could bring in more revenue and create more jobs gets jumped on.
It really does sound like the radical right just wants the country to fail so they can say "see, Obama was terrible just like we said, so it's ALLLLL his fault" doesn't it?

Obama never knew what he was doing.

That's why he spent most of his time out on the golf course.

Now his record is terrible and he is flailing miserably.

Dude, are you going to offer anything at all of any value or just keep spewing out your political shilling?
Seriously, we get it, you don't like Obama, now how about contributing something usefull???

It TAKES jobs AWAY from AMERICAN low achievers!!

But Obama says it's the right thing to do.

How can he be so brilliant and yet so very wrong?

The bilderbergers are doing everything in their power to bring down the middle and lower AMERICAN classes.

It is clear as day from my viewpoint. The borders are almost wide open so that small business does not have to abide by minimum wage laws and they can hire THE CHEAPEST non-unionised workforce. People with no higher education cannot compete with the illegals so they are going to be perpetually screwed over and have to file for unemployment or state welfare. The government purse keeps emptying as more people seek handouts and less tax revenue comes in.

Meanwhile the good jobs keep going to asia and the asian governments bend over to please them. Then the tax loopholes of declaring revenue overseas kick in which means less taxable income for america. Combine this with the foreign wars and overbloated military, DHS spending......no wonder we are 16 trillion in debt! What the hell happened to all those stimulus packages? They spent it outside of america! The tax payer is a fool!

The boat is sinking on purpose. Even a blind man can see this. No wonder the bilderberger meetings are conducted in secrecy. It is like choosing republican or republican lite....either way you get a republican government cause the mason founders(all right wingers to the bone) said america was founded as a republic rather than as a democracy.

Just cannot win! Catch 22!!

I AM a legal immigrant and NO I am NOT insulted. Obviously the ones who say they are unhappy that kids are not getting deported let alone getting a green card have forgotten what true Americans ideals are. Whatever happened to "Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" maybe we should change it to "Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free but only white people from Northern Europe or people with green cards and no effin Mexicans"

Honestly this thread is a huge pile of steaming BS disseminated by a bitter bigoted ideologue and a bunch of blind followers that do little to verify facts. Just jump on the hate bandwagon and spew your hate and filth.

So... By not deporting them, they're able to vote now? OMG! That changes everything!

Oh wait... They're just work permits? Ohhh.. Knee, meet jerk...

I'm amazed at how much like Chicken-Little some folks on here are.

Deny Ignorance? Fascinating idea....

Every sovereign has the ability to grant amnesty and to pardon, and virtually all of them use it. Why do they have this power? Because there are circumstances wherein laws cause unfortunate/unintended consequences.

In this case we are talking about children of illegal immigrants, and they have little or no control over their immigration -- their parents make those decisions. If you punish the children for their parents' decisions, then we would have some pretty serious consequences to face.

Furthermore punishing the children of illegal immigrants creates new, possibly more serious problems -- children with little or no legal life options. Enforcing the law essentially forces these children to become criminals and/or delinquents, since they cannot attend school or get legal, taxable employment.

The choice is enforce laws, which are supposed to preserve order, but in this context actually create disorder
-or-
Recognize that enforcing the laws is likely to make things even worse.

Thus as the sovereign, Obama has the ability to grant amnesty and/or pardon so order can be preserved. In this case he chose to allow the kids to get legal work permits rather than ducking immigration services and taking under-the-table jobs. Either keep them out of the system, paying no taxes and spend tax money hunting them down and deporting them, or let them into the system, paying taxes and spending no tax money hunting them down and deporting them.

I know several people who legally immigrated to this country, and they all think this is a good decision.

You make some good points but amnesty is normally used for people escaping persecution from war ridden countries that need protection. Also I see more competition in an already struggling job market regardless if they are legals or illegals.

I despair about the state of the US, too many right wing nut jobs it seems. Did you actually listen to what Obama said?

"We prioritised more boots on the border than any time in our history...

today there are fewer illegal crossings than at any time in the past 40 years..

deportation of criminals is up 80%...

we focus on criminals who endanger our communities rather than students who were earning their education......

temporary relief from deportation proceedings...

lifting the threat of deportation from these young people will be able to apply for work authorisation...

let's be clear, this is not an amnesty, this is not immunity, this is not a path to citizenship, it's not a permanent fix, it's a temporary stop gap measure to help us focus our resources wisely while giving a degree of relief and hope to talented driven patriotic young people."

Anyone not understanding this is deaf or blind or stupid or just simply malevolent and a racist against Obama and Hispanics.

Blah blah - - - ah yes - - I am an American Daughter too. My paternal ancestry - - Pennsylvania Deutsch - - arrived mid 1700s.

I grew up in Los Angeles - - very Hispanic. I now live on the US/Mex border.

I also spent a lot of time in Gardena. Very Asian.

I choose the Human factor. Kids who grew up as Americans. Here by force - - not by choice.

This is not amnesty - - - but an opportunity for kids who are American in every way but a piece of paper.

(sarcasm) Maybe we should give a green card to all the somallians and palestinians as well since we refuse to help them develop their own countries. The hell with helping them, just leaving them alone would be a fantastic start it seems. (/sarcasm)
