How is he doing that?

Please explain.

with the help of ACORN and people in the voting polls .... use your imagination... if Mickey Mouse can vote so can a person with a worker's permit.

I'm kind'a pissed off by this.

Get this. I'm from Sweden. I have an American girlfriend. I came to visit her in the US for five months. Because it was so difficult to get a work permit, I decided to stay here without working. Now, my five months are coming to an end, and I'm soon heading home, knowing that my plans to work in the US next time I go back, are going to be really difficult to achieve. What's even more difficult is getting a citizenship. Even marrying my girl isn't enough these days to achieve that.

So, would I say, if this is true, that I'm offended?

Hell yes! What point is it for me to jump through the #loads of legal hoops to become a US citizen so I can stay in this beautiful country permanently, if someone else can take a shortcut and reach the same goal without actually doing it with honest work - without actually deserving it?
...

Exactly! Doesn't matter where you are from, Sweden, Mexico, Guatemala, China, Russia, etc.. The point is that there are people who are trying to immigrate into the country the right way, and jumping through all the legal hoops to do so over long periods of time. Filling out forms, proving you're qualified, getting interviewed by government workers who don't really want to be there, waiting months for some letter to arrive, calling to follow up. Then some kids from illegal immigrants or visiting students who ignore their Visa timeout are granted a get out of jail free card, just because some far leftist guy got elected and bypassed Congress in choosing what laws to enforce and what laws to ignore or simply rewrite as he pleases.

One and done, this 'president' has been one of the most damaging, citizen hating people elected. Hopefully all truth comes out about him, besides the heavy drugs and socialist party memberships and Kenyan born history he's written about, and all acts by him will be voided. Wish we could take back all the money he spent.

Not this week anyway. Probably around the middle of October right before the election.
Obummer is suing Florida over them wanting to clear their voting roles from dead people and illegals voting. That's just not the Chicago way. Just because you are dead or illegal doesn't mean you shouldn't get to vote right?

This is the action of a dictator or a king. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad couldn't even do this in Iran by himself. I would suppose that Kim Jong il could. Is this the beginning of the end? Does Obama, the constitutional scholar forget about why we have a congress?

Where in the constitution does it talk about illegal immigrants?

Also i'm sorry, but Kim Jong il focused on keeping his people in, I fail to see what him and Iran have to do with immigration policy. I don't see what's so horrible about giving people who were raised here (so no, they often didn't choose to come all the way over here themselves, they were taken over by parents etc) a chance to live here. This isn't going to encourage mass migration, it's just saying people can stay in the country they were raised in, rather than having a situation where you can be deported to a country you haven't lived in since you were a baby (can you imagine being sent to a strange country you may not even know the language and customs of and told it was your home?).

Also everyone saying this increases his voter base, in what way? he isn't giving them immediate citizenship and registration for the next election, thus how could they vote for him?

Also on American jobs, by legalising immigrants, you probably help more Americans get jobs, as companies can no longer hire them illegally at reduced wages (which cuts Americans out of the picture).

One final point, there isn't really a line to get into the USA, I mean, for gods sake, you have a lottery to get in! I've known people to try dozens of times and never get it.

My post didn't speak what-so-ever to the value of the proposed action by Obama, I spoke to the unilateral action of the President who is acting beyond his authority. The Founders of this nation organized a system of laws. The President cannot "choose" which ones he likes. Obama wants to be a dictator like Kim.

So do you think other presidents like Lincoln, Bush, and many others were all dictators? They acted unilaterally, often against full approval of the congress or the constitution. Gosh what about the illegalities of Nixon (planning to kill a journalist, using the FBI to track anti-war activists etc). Hardly something new for American presidents

So your position is that it is ok to violate the law if others do it? Hardly a meritorious position.

This thread is just full of misinformation, lies and misconceptions.

This does not grant any illegal immigrant with Citizenship, nor does it provide a path to Citizenship. It just provides them with a work permit assuming they meet all of the requirements put forth by the administration. These people have gone through our education system, a lot of them only speak English and all of them call America home. They grew up here, they were brought here because they had no other alternative but to follow their parents.

I know a lot of you here unfortunately want the U.S. to accept the same barbaric immigration policies of 3rd world countries. But I'm proud of President Obama for stepping up and providing these young people with an opportunity to make something out of their lives in the only country they know.

The only people that are being slapped in the face are the heartless and borderline xenophobic Conservatives that nod like bobble heads at every piece of propaganda that Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity spew out

Well it is hella hard to get into the usa today. When most of you people and your ancestors came it was hella easy... so I really do not know where to stand on this.

Considering most illegals cannot do skilled jobs because of lack of education and knowing the language .. i really do not understand how this affects many of you on this site...

are you all unskilled workers without university studies??? If an illegal construction worker gets a job it does not really affect me..... because I am not a construction worker.. and there is no way in hell an illegal can get my job.. because he does not have the skills nor does he/she know the language.

Are all of you janitors on here?? Even if all the janitor jobs and construction jobs were available for all of you would you even work them??? Like really?? seriously people what is the big fricken deal.

I think the bigger problem is why so many of you people on here with the opportunity to make more out of your lives are not doing so... it is very sad. How about all of you here who know the language who can think( i say this because you come on here to have discussions) prove that this is the land of opportunity and make more out of yourself than just a janitor and leave those jobs for entry level immigrants.

NOw if you all start pointing at welfare.. we have enough home grown bums that are not illegals already draining it and that is a different discussion all together

No, my position is that you're freaking out over this when US presidents regularly overrule congress in matters they should be consulted on. If you decide to compare Obama to those dictators, why not add in all those other presidents, who most Americans consider great presidents (other than Bush)?

I was merely attempting to show a double standard in that you look at these things when you don't like the president, but presidents you do like you're willing to ignore or defend it.

...After years of getting nowhere with the DREAM Act, President Obama has decided to pass a version of it on his own. Obama and Janet Napolitano will announce today that, according to new Homeland Security policy, certain young-ish illegal immigrants who came to the United States as minors will no longer face the threat of deportation and can apply for a documentation that would allow them to work in the United States....

Its pretty obvious, isn't it? I wish I could say that this type of cheap election year crap from Obama surprises me, but it doesn't. I'm sure we haven't seen his last attempt at buying a voting bloc during this election cycle, either.

No .. it isn't. He just gave amnesty to 800,000 people who will overload our system. It will be a greater burden for the US taxpayer to bear. More people that our tax money will have to take care of. More people competing for jobs that Americans should be filling. He just made things WORSE .. not better. And his pandering and buying votes isn't 'the right thing' ... it's just politics as usual.

I'm sorry he isn't a heartless bastard...

Obama didn't do this out of the supposed goodness of his heart.
It was a calculated political move to gain votes so he could be re-elected.
He did it even though it's going to cause MORE PROBLEMS for real Americans.
He doesn't seem to care about that at all.

but you have Mitt Romney to fill that position...so vote for him all you want.

I don't plan on voting for either one of them.
This isn't an Obama or Romney only election you know ...

Time magazine .. notoriously far left wing.
To those at TIME ... NO, illegal aliens are NOT Americans.
No amount of calling them 'undocumented workers' changes the fact that they are ILLEGAL.

Gotta' wonder .. who buys the crap that TIme is pumping out?
Probably those who watch MSNBC and still think it's 'news'.

Obama has made an offensive and insulting decision to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. What of us legal immigrants and children of legal immigrants who had to wait in line, follow the rules, and jump through all the legal hurdles to get here?

Why bother following the rules? Are rules now something to ignore? What about the rest of the laws, should we all ignore the remaining laws?

www.cnn.com...

Obama administration to stop deporting some young illegal immigrants

What a disgusting and offensive administration. Obama seriously SUCKS as a president and SUCKS as a leader.

Your complaint is ridiculous and grossly inaccurate! Are you really an immigrant? I would love to hear about your immigration experience. You don’t seem too keen on immigration law or policy.

The line you wait in or the length of time you wait depends on the order of your priority and what you are applying for. If you are an immediate family member of American citizen, you get top priority and attaining permanent residency takes 6-12months or there about depending on backlog. . IF you are an immediate family member of green-card holder sponsoring you, you might wait a couple years etc. Wait time is determined by necessity, volume, availability, and country of origin in some cases.

I don’t see how this new policy hurts legits. This is PROTECTION FROM DEPORTATION targeted for people who entered without inspection at a young age(CHILDREN), and who have been productive members of our society. This is not a Green-card, this is temporary protection from automatic deportation. The deportation protection is an immediate necessity for these people. If they are deported, they will be subject to a 10-year bar or inadmissibility(permanent ban) under current law. Those who entered without inspection are immediately deportable when found. When the deportation process starts, it is usually hard to stop.

This also allows them to apply for authorization to work or attend school. And in that, they still have to wait in line like everyone else. If they want a green-card, or citizenship, they still have to wait in line like everyone else.

This allows them to remain productive while they are under the protection as well. Should we offer this protection and then prevent them from working or going to school? So they could become a burden on the state?

Remember who and what we are talking about here. This policy simply offers protection for those who came here AS KIDS, and have put down roots.

Is it not common human nature to offer leniency for mistakes made by children especially if they were simply doing what their parents told them to????

He didn't give amnesty to anyone didn't you even listen to the speech or read the article?

"This is not amnesty. This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship. It's not a permanent fix," Obama said to take on conservative criticism of the step. "This is a temporary stopgap measure."

That is nothing new, you could see glimpses of it very early on. As more people take off their obama goggles more are seeing it. Personally I feel this is an attempt to "hedge his bet", there are only so many dead people who can vote, this way he can get more of the non-citizen voter block.

If that doesn't work I would not be at all surprised to see something happen that would suspend the election this fall. obama has all the makings of a dictator and he doesn't care who sees it while appointing his czars, going around congress & senate or simply dictating things that are clearly illegal and unconstitutional.

If I were a bomb technician I could work for the police or military defusing bombs, or I could work for some rogue terrorist group building them. If I were a "constitutional scholar" I would know what were my legitimate powers and how to use them, or I could use that knowledge to make an end run around it. Combine that with the sheer audacity of "I've already done it, what are you going to do about it?" and you have your dictator.

A dictator does not have to answer questions, period.

I am actually a legal immigrant. I have been here 4 years and graduated college. I will be a citizen next year and will be signing up as an Officer in the Air National Guard. I waited 14 years to get here and no I am not insulted by this development at all. In fact I am HAPPY that these kids will have a shot at the the American dream. Most of you don't know what it is like to be an immigrant so stop spewing your conjecture about what us legal immigrants think about this. Also have a heart. It helps sometimes.
