Socialists and feminists in Europe want to force equality by forcing men to sit while taking a piss, under threat of law. The Sormland County Council in Sweden, and the Left Party, are pushing for legislation that would designate “sit only” public restrooms.
The Naked Scientists website notes that a similar movement is also brewing in Germany, France and Holland.

People are making the case that it's better for public health, and better for men's health, to have these laws passed.
I think government like this amounts to fascism, and that's always bad for everyone's health -- well, except for members of the political class.
Incidentally, I saw another article at Forbes that said Mayor Bloomberg is offering $9Mil for "good ideas." (Linked to in "additional news links" for those curious about that story.) Meaning he's hunting around for more ways government can intrude into the lives of the private class. Well, here's my idea, borrowed from Europe. Send me that $9Mil, please, Mr. Bloomberg.

It says the movement is threatenign in France as well, but I truly cannot imagine that would happen!

The french are against women peeing sitting down, so I don't think they'd want men to do it.
Because once you have people sitting on the toilet, then you have to worry about there being a seat, and about it being clean. In most of France, there is toilets but they often are missing a seat- precisely to discourage people from sitting down.

I piss on that law!

If they do pass it, i'll form a religion where men are allowed to pee standing for some reason i have yet to brew up to counter it.

Got to love all the conflicting laws..

If we are talking about public restrooms which are shared by men and women then I can see the logic... but this would make absolutely no sense for toilets which are separated for men and women.

The original article makes it quite clear there is no intent to make anything illegal at all.
Ever.
It was only put forward as a proposal for encouraging men to sit, if they wish.

But dont let truth get in the way of a good story.

what utter twaddle - how the OPs " source " came to thier conclusion is baffling .

the swedish proposal does not intend to ban standing - but remove standing only urinals - that can only [ realistically ] be used by men

unisex toilets can still be used [ for urination ] by men standing up - there is no obligation to sit - only the oportunity

i do not have a urinal in my bathroom - but i still urinate stood up

but hey - i guess fearmongering lies get more attention for websites than the truth

not a good idea - men will keep standing and so if there is no urinal the gerneral quality of toilits will get low because if a men is standing and the target is no urinal - it gets always nasty (from a bit to total mayhem - and i dont want to start talking about girls not sitting properly because the toilet is dirty - this is total chaos)...and at least we have these...and compared to these types i think the urinal is the best choise even if its men only...







anyway - who want unisex toiletts?! nobody!!!!

I see that the headline is a bit stretched.
But.
Looking at most public toilets, I wouldn´t dare to sit on them. Its the same with gun law. Outlaw standing urination and the "criminals" will continue to urinate standing up. The rest of the public will have to suffer.
