Canada Seeks Alternatives to Transport Oil Reserves

Well with all the political stammering and stalling, and even with Obama himself "committing" last March to expedite the keystone Pipeline and create jobs, it looks like Canada has little choice but to sell their excess oil reserves to other customers.

LONDON, Ontario — As the United States continues to play political Ping-Pong with the fate of the Keystone XL pipeline, Canadian officials and companies are desperately seeking alternatives to get the country’s nearly 200 billion barrels in oil reserves — almost equal to that of Saudi Arabia — to market from landlocked Alberta.

Lawyers for Enbridge, a transporter of oil exports, listened to opponents of the company’s pipeline plan at the hearing.

Oil companies complain that they are losing revenues from pipeline bottlenecks. So Canada is plunging ahead with plans to build more pipelines of its own.

To hasten development of new export routes, the Conservative government is streamlining permit processes by accelerating scheduled hearings and limiting public comment. The government has also threatened to revoke the charitable status of environmental groups that are challenging the projects. And Public Safety Canada, the equivalent of the United States Department of Homeland Security, has classified environmentalists as a potential source of domestic terrorism, adding them to a list that includes white supremacists.

Obama said "Yes" then changed his mind !!

White House threatens veto of highway bill - 04/17/12 04:28 PM ET -- The Hill

Obama is in an uproar about the keystone Pipeline again.

The White House on Tuesday threatened to veto House legislation to extend transportation programs because it contains GOP language that mandates approval of the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline.

The House is slated to vote Wednesday on the bill that keeps the transportation programs funded through September, the end of the fiscal year.

It would take permitting of the proposed Alberta-to-Texas pipeline away from the State Department and task the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission with approving the project.
Lots of excuses in the article. Would he actually stop the highway funding because he is raving jealous or mad at somebody ? Why would he do that ?

what?

wait...

At first I thought this might be an Alex Jones article....

but NY Times....

I guess because Canada's moves are not beneficial to the US people would be quick to put down the Canadian government.

But wait a tick!

Where are the Canadians that are concerned about Harper "limiting public opinion" "streamlining permits" "taking away charitable status for not agreeing with gov."??
