You are so right. The insanity is creeping from under every rock, the spiral into hell has begun...cannibalism, be-heading, murder torture, mothers, children, husbands no one is safe. The really sad part is the news loves it. They seem to love spilling the gory details of everything and this just feeds hells fire.

I was shocked enough by the original news announcement and chose not to go looking to view the film. However, for a teacher to usurp the role of the parent by allowing the child to make such a choice by voting on viewing what is depravity and more than a snuff film goes beyond reason and understanding. I seriously hope the teacher is charged. This was way more serious than a simple lapse of judgment.

BTW, the news said he was the full-time social studies teacher. I hope he never works in a classroom again.

Have another look at my words. I agree completely that schools and people need to be accountable, but suing a school is a poor way to do it. Increase background checks on teachers, improve training, and take more control over content taught. Fire the teacher and black-list them if they are incompetent to teach our kids. Fire the people most responsible for failing to ensure our children's emotional and physical safety. But suing the school? Tell me what that accomplishes other than giving money to defence lawyers that could be spent on our kids.

and i was the teacher ... the teacher was to soft and made a mistake saying he had the video

These kids will go home and watch crap like SAW, their parents will let them, and they will sue this poor teacher for showing them the consequence of real violence. How terrible.

I guess the students who did not want to watch were allowed to leave then? They couldn't be forced to watch.

Sounds like a bunch of little psycho's in training, I haven't seen that vid, nor do I want to, nor can I think of a moment in my younger years that I'd want to see such a thing. Insanely disturbing, no matter which way you twist it. The teacher SHOULD be fired and not be allowed to TEACH ever again. That the class voted to watch it does not mean it's correct. If a class voted to watch porn, would that be okay? I mean, the majority voted for it! Bunch of backward nonsense, teachers should hold up morals not destroy them :S

I saw about 30 seconds worth of random outtakes from the 10 minute video... I've seen a lot of crap over the years on the Internet. The video instantly made it hands down to the top of my "Don't watch!" list. Words such as "horrific", "disgusting", "sick", "twisted" and "pure evil" are simply not good enough to describe the scenes. It's much worse than that.

The first 3 seconds alone should tell anyone that the video shouldn't be shown to kids. A naked man bound and gagged on a bed? Surely that alone would be rated R18 and by default disqualify any kid from seeing it...

Don't know what the teacher was thinking, but he definitely didn't have his pupils' best interest at heart...

Was this film appropriate for a classroom? It's hard to say - and that debate is probably for another thread.

Should the parents been notified about the showing of the film in order to give or withhold permission? If only for the teacher's sake 'cause if you think kids at that age would have asked for 'permission' before watching the same video on their home computer you're wrong.

Of course it's horrific this poor boy died as he did. And for his parents? The horror knowing the atrocities performed on their sons body after his death? Yes, it's heartbreaking.

What else is horrific? Chalk the situation up as just another nail in the coffin of FREEDOM ON THE NET! That some idiot looking for attention is going to screw it up for the rest of us.

That is the single main thing I'm fed up with, on this forum. It isn't the mere fact, alone, that so many of you people are as chronically sick as you are; it's the fact that you are so adamantly insistent and vehement in said psychopathology. First, I saw a little of the video, but I couldn't stomach to watch it entirely.
Its disgusting, repulsive and saddening.

Second : I heard about that teacher on the local news.
Some students were trying to defend the teacher by saying :"He (the teacher) didn't wanted to show us the video, but the whole class wanted to see it. The teacher said thew will proceed to vote, and if there is one, only one person who opposes it, it will not be shown."
Apparently the class voted and the teacher proceeded to show it to them. And I am not even sure if the vote was unanimous ( there was some nuance that not all students agreed).

Now this was not too bright, seriously its NOT a teachers job to show these type of things.
If kids want to see the video, (which I personally would NEVER recommend anyone to watch it) they should do it on their own terms, a school is NOT the place for these kind of things.
I hope the teacher will learn his lesson

IMO that does not vindicate the teacher even a bit. How does this even come up in a school classroom context? Then to let kids vote on it is pretty stupid. In this day in age, most of them probably have access to a computer unsupervised, that seem to be how most kids got it these days. They probably could have watched it at their own houses, if they wanted to that bad. They probably have HBO and can watch rated R movies, and late nights soft core porn as well. That doesn't mean it has any place in a school though.

This really should not even be debatable.
First of all, it is basically a "snuff" film.
Secondly, it was pornography.
Thirdly, it was necrophilia.
Fourth, its just disgusting.

It is illegal to show minors pornography, much less necrophilia, much less in a public school

Not only should the teacher be fired but also arrested. The DA needs to review this case.

Nowhere in the SOURCE link does it talk about the teacher giving the students a vote.
Nowhere does it state the teacher 'had the video with him' - sparking the students interest.
