The V space (herinafter called, simply, the V) yes, represents a downward arrow. However it also symbolizes something new or novel that only gets better and better as it expands and grows, like ripples in a pond or like soundwaves from a rung bell.., so it represents both a downward causation and an emergent one, from the bottom up so to speak. It is both a descending and ascending phenomenon and in the context of this scene, a fresh start and a new beginning, or simply put, heaven on earth, made manifest. Yes, as above, so below, meaning that heaven, to BE heaven must be made 1st manifested on Earth, so Jesus still has a lot of (soon to be) happy work to do, on the other side of all the sorrow, suffering, pain and heartache, and betrayal, this side of the cross, and tomb, eh?
The V is also quite simply a V for "Victorious", a word applicable to da Vinci's time, and intended audiance, certaintly, and that's something anyone can see and understand, in noting the V.

But more importantly, to me, is the love relationship that is implied (where the bottom of the V implies a touch and a contact, under the table..as above so below..?), for which a marriage union is the best mataphor however explicit or implicit the reference being made.

what do we see but the right hand, holding a knife, at the end of a rather longgg (if not pulled or extended in exaggeration) right arm belonging to none other than the disciple we'll call Mary sitting at Jesus right. If this is her hand, which it is, plainly, then set before her cannot be her clasped hands, but a loaf of bread instead, in which case her left hand is MISSING, here, leaving only a blue hole in her cloak beside Jesus, presumably held behind her back by the same man who's got her by the right wrist of the extended right arm ie: he's holding her captive or at the very least preventing her from slicing the bread to initiate the consumation of the meal, while the rest of the group to her right (our left) conspire and prompt the guy who's grabbed her, with the exception of Judas, who sits simply looking at Jesus and mirroring him to a degree (we'll touch on this later), and the one in the middle of them to the front who's holding up both his hands as if to say "You can count me OUT of this mess, I'll have absolutely no part in this whatsoever you're on your own boys with this one!"

Judas

Judas, the darker skinned one of Arabic descent, to Mary's right, in front of the man who's got Mary and is making the threatening gesture across her throat and whispering in her ear - unlike Jesus who's left hand is open, and right hand grasping for more, appears to have the the top of what is presumably the bag of silver coins tightly gripped in his right hand (with the bag hidden in his cloak), with his left hand grasping for more, in his case, the desire for political power by which to overthrow Roman imperialism. He has the look of someone who thinks he's got everything figured out, yet relative to who Jesus is evidently, as usual one step ahead here symbolized by getting the left, and the right, correctly whereby the left hand usually represents the darker side of human nature and the right, the better half. Jesus here is pretending not to know what he's doing, while Judas is pretty sure of himself, for the time being.

This too is amuzing, and prescient - the notion that the "black sheep" would bear a heavy price and come to experience centuries of bloody confict with the church.. sadly, and something even visible to this day in the trumped up "war on terror"..

Crickets, to many crickets (or grasshoppers)..

I'm surprised that more people aren't into this and find what we've uncovered about the hidden meaning in this painting by da Vinci to be of great interest.

One other thing about the "V", is that it, like the disciple to Jesus' right (who according to the "official" interpretation is one called "John the Yonger".. not) represents the otherwise missing female element.

Also, the whole frame of reference and the hidden joke falls apart, unless that person was in fact intended by da Vinci to represent Mary Magdalene.

But the right hand of Jesus reaching for more, and the guy on his left looking at that hand gape-mouthed, that's really quite something.

There's certainly more to this painting that was otherwise assumed, which only becomes clear when you can take a good look at it up close.
