Obama tells activists ‘change is hard,’ in video message to Netroots Nation

The president sent a taped video message to his "good friends" (all present and accounted for) at the annual meeting of the Netroots Nation.

His message -- "change is hard, but we've seen it’s possible"

Yes of course.

Obama sure does like the Netroots Nation. And we all know they love him.

Netroots Nation is a Fibrillating Palpitating Foaming-at-the-Mouth Ultra-Liberal Super Left Wing Fanatical Radical organization. And they have some international connections.

Watch the (campaign ?) video below.

President Obama taped a surprise video message for activists attending the progressive Netroots Nation conference, telling them that "change is hard, but we've seen it’s possible."

"It’s hard to believe this is already the fourth Netroots Nation of my presidency," said Obama, greeting attendees in the pre-recorded message which was played at the summit in Providence, R.I. on Saturday. "That’s like 200,000 news cycles on Twitter," he joked.

Obama, who has faced criticism from some progressive activists for not doing more to help unseat GOP Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin's failed recall effort and who has been on the defensive on the economy and seen rival Mitt Romney rise in the polls, sought to reassure liberal supporters in his message.

Some Background

Netroots Nation is a political convention for American progressive political activists, originally organized by readers and writers of Daily Kos, a liberal political blog. It was previously called YearlyKos. The 7th Annual Netroots Nation conference will be held in Providence, Rhode Island from June 7-10.[1]

The origin of Netroots Nation is traced to a time when a tremendous and growing number of citizens gathered every day in the virtual world to raise their collective voice and proactively influence their government. That group is broadly called the Netroots and has since grown to include progressive organizations and politicians who use new media technologies to communicate with their constituents. The convention rebranded to Netroots Nation in 2007 in an effort to more accurately reflect the makeup of its audience and mission of implementing programs that teach and empower Netroots communities to effect change in the public sphere.

The first ever Netroots UK (www.netrootsuk.org...) was held in January 2011. The second Netroots UK will be held June 30, 2012 in London.

Netroots Sweden (www.socialdemokraterna.se...) was held April 27-29 in Stockholm.

Netroots Nation is a joint project between Netroots Nation, a non-profit non-partisan organization that aligns itself with the Democratic Party, with support from the Netroots Foundation.

"About Us"

The big picture: We amplify progressive voices by providing an online and in-person campus for exchanging ideas and learning how to be more effective in using technology to influence the public debate. Through our annual convention and other events, we strengthen the community, inspire action and serve as an incubator for ideas that challenge the status quo and ultimately affect change in the public sphere.
