TA-THREATS: Bomb scare sparks plane diversion, page 1

A plane from Singapore Airlines flying from Frankfurt to New York has had to be diverted to Manchester following a bomb threat. All 292 passengers and 19 crew members have been safely escorted off the plane. And the police are carrying out searches to check for any devises that may be on board.

A Great Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "Early indications are that it could be a hoax, but we cannot confirm that one way or another until full checks are carried out."

Singapore Airlines said the landing in Manchester was prompted by information received by German authorities.

She did not confirm any further details about the nature of the threat.

With all these new threats that�s are being made about bombs on planes what are they trying to achieve? Maybe at some point there will be a devise onboard but for now I think there just playing a game of stalling and cost the companies money.

How much does it cost to send a escort of fighter jets up, then have people wait 5-6 hours before the all clear is given then refuel for the flight back to there it was meant to be going in the first place. All this adds up and maybe who ever is behind all this is trying new tactic�s of terror?
