"The presumption is that most bath salts are MDPV, or methylenedioxypyrovalerone, although newer pyrovalerone derivatives are being made by illegal street chemists. Nobody really knows, because there is no way to test for these substances," Horowitz says. Why are they called bath salts? "It’s confusing. Is this what we put in our bathtubs, like Epsom salts? No. But by marketing them as bath salts and labeling them 'not for human consumption,' they have been able to avoid them being specifically enumerated as illegal," Horowitz says. What do you experience when you take bath salts? "Agitation, paranoia, hallucinations, chest pain, suicidality. It’s a very scary stimulant that is out there. We get high blood pressure and increased pulse, but there’s something more, something different that’s causing these other extreme effects. But right now, there’s no test to pick up this drug. The only way we know if someone has taken them is if they tell you they have. The clinical presentation is similar to mephedrone [a chemical found in other designer drugs], with agitation, psychosis, and stimulatory effects. Both of these agents should be of concern, as severe agitated behavior, like an amphetamine overdose, has occurred.
Just a reminder Seabag, my hubby is a drug recognition expert...so if you have any questions I will try to get an answer out of him.
The woman in the posted video is nothing but an fear-mongering, opinionated idiot running her mouth, despite having a B.A. and a Ph.D. If this passes for news, I'd turn your TV off till a more believable "expert" comes along.

Are you blaming the Chinese government for the creation, sale and distribution of this drug? Along with India and Pakistan? That is one large pill to swallow given these three countries strained relationships with each other.
Just because a doctor says it was made in China doesn't mean the government. The manufacture, shipment, distribution and sale can all be handled easily by drug "cartels" or gangs without the help or approval of state governments. Take a look at South American and Mexican drug cartels, they are able to move their product quite easily.
And what would be the motive for the Chinese,Pakistani and Indian governments to introduce "bath Salts" into the American landscape? There would have to be something to gain, is there? Having a couple of junkies freak out doesn't seem to be that big of a payoff.
"Bath Salts" have been around for awhile now, despite articles stating the contrary.
en.wikipedia.org...
Is there any more evidence you have that links the governments of these countries to this drug or is it just a MD on video said "made in China"? If so that is pretty weak conspiracy theory...

Why should I give your opinion of her any more credence than her opinion on this subject?
This is what she does for a living…and she’s a recognized expert in her field! What are your credentials to make that assessment of her?
Because, possibly, in my short and troubled existance on this miserable excuse for a rock holding a supposed community of brothers, I have more first hand, practical experience with the direct actions and consequences of various drugs and their mode of operation than this paper pushing opinion-maker.
People take drugs, and have been taking drugs for thousands of years, if not longer. Drugs also mean the legal ones, just in case.
You can bluster all you want but unless this is some military thing, no one takes "zombie" drugs, knowingly.
You can now go claim that this is some malevolent attempt by the Evil Chinese to infiltrate or debilitate America but I miss one thing in all this rhetoric, reasoned argument based on fact rather than pure speculation.
With all due respect.
Zombie drugs. Pulleze!

The problem with these "bath salts" are that they aren't even drugs....they are just a concoction of chemicals that people decided to use as drugs....just like huffing paint or drinking listerine......dangerous stuff, very deadly.
