I think it comes back to them being cheaper...like all the other junk from China...I will check with my husband on where most of the "bath salts" are made...I wouldn't doubt most come from China and the like. Just a reminder Seabag, my hubby is a drug recognition expert...so if you have any questions I will try to get an answer out of him.

The woman in the posted video is nothing but an fear-mongering, opinionated idiot running her mouth, despite having a B.A. and a Ph.D. If this passes for news, I'd turn your TV off till a more believable "expert" comes along.

The problem with these "bath salts" are that they aren't even drugs....they are just a concoction of chemicals that people decided to use as drugs....just like huffing paint or drinking listerine......dangerous stuff, very deadly.

no ....just...no.

"bath salts" is a marketing label given to a concoction of a few different DRUGS. yes they are legitimate psychoactive amphetamines that fall under a gray area due to their slight differences in chemical makeup. these "bath salts" usually consist of the drugs mephedrone, MDPV, and sometimes methylone.

you are incorrect.

many of these research chemicals are manufactured by sketchy labs in china, that is true.

MDPV in particular is the one that instigates speed psychosis.

You should really read the whole article before you call someone wrong...

"The presumption is that most bath salts are MDPV, or methylenedioxypyrovalerone, although newer pyrovalerone derivatives are being made by illegal street chemists. Nobody really knows, because there is no way to test for these substances," Horowitz says. Why are they called bath salts? "It’s confusing. Is this what we put in our bathtubs, like Epsom salts? No. But by marketing them as bath salts and labeling them 'not for human consumption,' they have been able to avoid them being specifically enumerated as illegal," Horowitz says. What do you experience when you take bath salts? "Agitation, paranoia, hallucinations, chest pain, suicidality. It’s a very scary stimulant that is out there. We get high blood pressure and increased pulse, but there’s something more, something different that’s causing these other extreme effects. But right now, there’s no test to pick up this drug. The only way we know if someone has taken them is if they tell you they have. The clinical presentation is similar to mephedrone [a chemical found in other designer drugs], with agitation, psychosis, and stimulatory effects. Both of these agents should be of concern, as severe agitated behavior, like an amphetamine overdose, has occurred.

That’s cool!

I’d love to hear his take on this story and if he thinks there is any conspiracy involved.

Why should I give your opinion of her any more credence than her opinion on this subject?

This is what she does for a living…and she’s a recognized expert in her field! What are your credentials to make that assessment of her?

Tell that to web md....and it was a research chemical that people started using as a drug, it is also found in fertilizer....that was my whole point...bath salts started out as a mix of chemicals that people decided to try out as a drug..now street chemists and who knows who else are mixing homemade drugs and chemicals and selling them all as bath salts..... don't you think that's stupid and dangerous? Just like the synthetic pot which is a mix of plants and chemicals, it is also deadly. Since most of the chemicals can't be tested for...who knows what's in them...

Are you blaming the Chinese government for the creation, sale and distribution of this drug? Along with India and Pakistan? That is one large pill to swallow given these three countries strained relationships with each other.

Just because a doctor says it was made in China doesn't mean the government. The manufacture, shipment, distribution and sale can all be handled easily by drug "cartels" or gangs without the help or approval of state governments. Take a look at South American and Mexican drug cartels, they are able to move their product quite easily.

And what would be the motive for the Chinese,Pakistani and Indian governments to introduce "bath Salts" into the American landscape? There would have to be something to gain, is there? Having a couple of junkies freak out doesn't seem to be that big of a payoff.

"Bath Salts" have been around for awhile now, despite articles stating the contrary.

en.wikipedia.org...

Is there any more evidence you have that links the governments of these countries to this drug or is it just a MD on video said "made in China"? If so that is pretty weak conspiracy theory...

I did ask him about the symptoms and he agreed the concoctions have a terrible effect on you, extreme rise in body temp, extreme violence, paranoia.... all the things we have been seeing on the news.

The other day he came home and told me about a crazy stop he had, said the guy seemed like he was going all zombie on him...turned out it was a diabetic attack....poor guy, he was growling and carrying on.....after the initial shock of how he was acting, he figured it was sugar...but couldn't wait to tell me the story because I had just told him about all the zombie attack talk on here.

Since he is a very reserved, call it like it is guy...he will never talk of conspiracy...but I can get technical info out of him.

Because, possibly, in my short and troubled existance on this miserable excuse for a rock holding a supposed community of brothers, I have more first hand, practical experience with the direct actions and consequences of various drugs and their mode of operation than this paper pushing opinion-maker. People take drugs, and have been taking drugs for thousands of years, if not longer. Drugs also mean the legal ones, just in case.

You can bluster all you want but unless this is some military thing, no one takes "zombie" drugs, knowingly. You can now go claim that this is some malevolent attempt by the Evil Chinese to infiltrate or debilitate America but I miss one thing in all this rhetoric, reasoned argument based on fact rather than pure speculation.

With all due respect.

Zombie drugs. Pulleze!

I do not care where it is from or what it is called but we have to put a stop this this "zombie dust" ( I over heard some cops calling it that). It does not mater what the reason is or what caused it when someone comes after you with plans of putting you on the menu you must defend your self even if that means killing them.

It is all about making money. It is a new drug for getting high and little of any laws to stop it. The side of effect of which turning into a zombie and waking up the next morning laying by the half eaten body of your best friend wondering WTH happened.

Somehow I thought you would have first-hand experience.

She’s not a paper pusher she’s a research scientist and a Phd!

What does that have to do with anything??

Everyone takes drugs “knowingly” unless of course they are strapped to a gurney and injected against their will (which nobody has claimed).

You can now go claim that this is some malevolent attempt by the Evil Chinese to infiltrate or debilitate America but I miss one thing in all this rhetoric, reasoned argument based on fact rather than pure speculation.

According to the Doctor, these drugs can be traced back to China. Why is that hard to believe? Other members have posted on this thread about their knowledge of drugs coming from china. And this is a speculation forum!! Did you read the title of the video?? Guess what, I didn’t make the video!! Someone else speculated before me!

With all due respect.

Zombie drugs. Pulleze!

Then why are you here running your jib if this is so ridiculous?

Move along!

Isn't that what the majority of illegal substances sold on the street are like these days. I mean, most amphetamine and euphoric based drugs have hardly any of what they are supposed to have in them.

Most of them are just a concoction of chemicals that give similar reactions and cut with over the counter drugs.

So your saying no, I got ya'.

Carry on then despite your "conspiracy theory" defies common sense and the current geopolitical landscape in that region.

being manufactured in a illegitimate chinese lab =/= chinese government involvment

thats absurd. furthermore research chemicals are manufactured all over the globe. their synthesis procedures are fairly easy to obtain...

i would also like to add that these cases are the result of the combination of pre-existing psychological issues colliding with speed psychosis, and also add in some cultural disease and socio-economic imbalance.

i am in no way defending the use of these horrid substances.
