Getting a FOID card for the first time. Illinois, usa

I'm not sure what they ask or have you do. There is a small gunshop in town here and I've been pondering getting the FOID card so I can own a weapon.

I DO have a misdemeanor from 2002 for cashing a work check that ended up being forged. A lot of us employees got misdemeanors from that crap. But anyway, that's all I have on my record (which keeps me from getting hired any and every where. No mcdonals, no taco bell, no factories, nothing. It's so horrific).

Will that keep me from getting the foid? And how much do they cost, etc?
