There is a lot more evidence than fossil records that prove that the earth is older than creationist assert. Even your own book sends the young man Cain, supposedly the first manchild, out into an already populated world.

That populated world had to have sexual relations with men and women, therefore marriage. Since they weren't part of the "garden" I guess they were pagan.

Therefore the OP is right, marriage was originally a pagan institution, and the Bible stories even prove it!

Well, gee, Windword, if you wish to go there, the whole world was Pagan before the Church came along and spoiled all the fun. The word "Pagan," by the way, simply means a family man who set a pole to make his property, thus becoming a "Heathen" when he built a hearth to cook food and keep warm. Their society was matrilineal; children took their mothers' names. Life was based on Lunar (not Solar) calendar. Time was experienced as a repeating cycle, not linear like humanity thinks of it. A Goddess was popularly worshipped.

The Great Goddess, the Divine Ancestress, was worshiped as far back as the Upper Paleolithic about 25,000 BC -- not 7000 BC as had been previously believed by archaeologists and scholars based on archaeological evidence. The last Goddess temples were closed about 500 AD.

Little has been written about the female deities who were worshiped in the most ancient periods of human existence and still today, the material there is has been almost totally ignored.

Most of the information and artifacts concerning the vast female religion, which flourished for thousands of years before the advent of the classical age of Greece, Judaism, Christianity, was dug out of the ground after the Second World War. It is these more recent excavations which have changed our view of our most ancient history.

The old ways were perhaps the best ways in many aspects. The Males have ruined this planet. (sorry guys, it's true) We build up, and we blast down, we spread poison everywhere we go, and kill other humans for religion, sport, and resources. We rape our women, and abuse them, and we kill them. We men are a sorry lot, aren't we? Time to put the Mother back on her throne, and tell the Father to just step back a little.

Yep! And don't forget, the Muslims are making progress in America too, pretty soon one will have a choice, join Islam, be married in the Muslim way, or be killed as an Infidel. Religious war.

So where does that leave Pagans and New Agers? Man, this is not looking good. The most peaceful religions will most likely be the ones gone if a religious war did happen. I hope not.
