A 'tooth tattoo' made from silk strands and gold wires could be used to detect life-threatening illnesses, researchers have said.
The tiny wireless device sticks to dental enamel and transmits real-time updates on chemicals in the breath and saliva.
Engineers at Princeton University in America have used it to detect bacteria that causes surgical infections and stomach ulcers, and say it could also be used to recognise viruses.

Electronic 'tattoos' to monitor vital signs
There are many ways to adhering such things to surfaces.. and making the circuitry include sensors seems logical and excusable were it to be used solely for medical purposes.... but somehow the cynic in me calls out to beware of how this gets used... and who gets to use it... and who they get to share the info with....
Hopefully keep track of all of the people, half crime, catch child snatchers, kidnappers, the benifets are endless..

If they cared about our health, then why not just have us blow into a container, like a Breathalyzer, when we have our annual physicals. Do we really need to focus on our health moment by moment, is it some sort of emergency?
They are testing the waters for giving us all some sort of monitoring device.

Well this new tattoo thingy smacks of another attempt to monitor the masses. I am not having this thing implanted in my tooth thank you very much. Who knows what this thing will transmit without you knowing. I would stay well clear of this device.
It generated an instant response which was sent to a nearby monitor. "The antenna coil is what transmits the signal," said Michael McAlpine, the team's principal investigator, “you don't need a battery."

Finding my daughter will be the least of my worries if I allow a big brother device into her or my mouth. Keeping track of everyone all the time is not needed for safety.

Dont you get it your tracked anyway with mobile phones internet etc but we do not always carry them around 100%
Now do we?...
Ok lets have it your way and let joe public get away with things then , sad that you think only the government are capable of anything bad
Better get rid of your mobile phones and internet connections then as your daughter could be tracked by what is it you call them..... ooh yes, the powers that be...
Trust me finding your daughter would not be the least of your worries, if say she ever got kidnapped by some moron , And the police say well i'm sorry but because she has not got her mobile on her sadly we are at a loss until new information comes to light as "she could be anywhere"
Then of course it could be to late.... However enter some tech that could tell where she is, bingo chances go up dramatically of finding her alive.. my two pounds worth ..good day sir mam

I'm sure it has not occurred to you that anyone seeking to snatch a young girl, only has to knock her teeth out, and problem solved.
Safety will not be found in monitoring devices, that is not their purpose
it can be applied to a tooth's surface with water "like a child's transfer tattoo", the university said.
