An unannounced test would be a very bad idea.

I would hope that it was announced to the relevant people beforehand.
Not the media,necessarily.

That was a missile test of some kind though IMO.

That I understand, I navigated the sea the old way,

But I could imagine an observatory having some modern equipment or something. (Radar? Laser?, Rangefinders? Things I don't know about?) Or even another observery on another location and comparing data.

I find it hard to believe a professional makes a loose statement like that. Especially 80, then he better said around a 100 or so.

With that I agree.
Curious how there doesn't seem to be any other coverage.

so this is 2 seperate launches?
in the first video i see a rocket that then begins a spiral
i also see the smoke from a launch
but to me they seem seperate to each other

as in the direction of the rocket is going a completely different direction to the launch smoke

It's separate stages of the same rocket.

Ok.
I was confused about the direction because I thought the video in the OP was from Israel.

Phage said something interesting.

He said maybe it was a launch from a sub in the med. israel just got a bunch of littoral diesel subs. They can launch cruise missiles. and ASROC's etc. maybe they were testing a new anti satellite rocket system or something. Maybe even a sub launched mid range missile.

Next thing we know these subs are escorted into the persian gulf by US SSNs and they too will be launching cruise missiles ect at Iran if SHTF.

Just a thought.

But whatever it is in the photos is definitely a rocket of some sort.

Russian, yes.

Spinning, yes.

One test, from southern Russia, seen in Israel because of the altitude.

it is sorta weird that there deosnt seem to be any other coverage.....with all that is going on with syria, isreal and arent turkey and greece having some type of dispute over some islands or sea space?....one would think that the people over there would be all over this. just a general question..do all missles leave sometype of 'spiral'? where any 'spirals' reported during the iraq wars or in afganistan? or does it have to be of a certain type or size? and wasnt the norway spiral a missle that went out of control or something like that? ..

IMO ... The first explanation given by an "official authority" is complete and utter BS.

Any ATS'ers accepting the first explanation are showing naivety.

Not all rockets leave spirals but many do.
No ICBMs were used in Iraq or Afghanistan.
To produce a spiral the stage must leave the atmosphere.
The Norway spiral was from a Russian missile test which failed. The spiral was not necessarily the result of the failure.

thanks
you always seem to have good info.

so this needs to be a multi stage rocket..icbm....most likely fired from russia heading out towards the east or southish. havent there been other icbm launches? and were there 'spirals' conected to them? or maybe, since these 'spirals' seem to be connected to russia...it is due to some advancment in thier rocket tech? i wonder what the us govt thinks about these?

The Russian strategic ballistic Troops conducted Thursday a successful test launch of a Topol intercontinental ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar polygon located in the Astrakhan region (Volga), announced the spokesman Vadim Koval troops.

fr.ria.ru...

The Topol is a three staged rocket.

The spiral is not restricted to Russian rockets (see my post up a bit). It, in itself, doesn't really indicate anything.
