FBI looks into possible White House leaks

www.cnn.com

(CNN) -- The FBI has launched an investigation into apparent leaks of classified information involving a cyberwarfare program against Iran, a U.S. official said Wednesday.

FBI spokesman Paul Bresson had no comment on the reported investigation.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss, ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said he was informed that an FBI inquiry was under way.

I was wondering how long it was going to take for an investigation to begin.

I wonder how many heads will roll when this is all said and done with? It seems likely that many of these committee members will need to be revetted, and their staffs combed over to find out who keeps releasing these kinds of statements.

Also, has anyone else noticed how 'loose lipped' this administration has been? These type of leaks seem like the norm for Obama and company... could it be a coincidence or are there that many unhappy people working for the government these days?

I S&F for you, because I love studying tradecraft and related areas. There are so many real-life cases involving mind-blowing double and triple-crosses, with certain countries devising ingenious plans to uncover double agents, and it is just so intriguing in my opinion.

It definitely would not surprise me if this were true. Since the end of the Cold War until now, espionage between the US and Russia, although it continued, has dwindled quite a bit. The agents we had in the USSR were killed after being made by people like Ames and Hanssen, the latter of the two being almost an insane case considering how he should have been caught multiple times. The agents that were in the US after the Cold War ended simply stayed there, and the new Russian intelligence, mainly the SVU, just took over where the USSR's KGB and GRU left off.

But anyway, now the majority of tradecraft has shifted to the Middle East and Asia. Some people would probably be surprised to learn that allied countries frequently spy on one another. The USA has caught assets spying for Israel, despite the fact that we supposedly have a great relationship with them, lol, but those spies do not get prosecuted...Diplomatic immunity only applies under certain conditions. It also depends on whether the agent is a citizen of that particular country he/she is working in, because if so, they can be charged with treason.

The US focuses its intelligence efforts much more on SIGINT and the like, as opposed to HUMINT, which is actual spying. But they do their fare share of recruiting assets in foreign countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, China, etc...The Chinese are the MAIN threat as far as spying within the US at the moment, at least from what I know, and they spread their capabilities and assets around quite a bit. I'm sure we've all read about the classified network intrusion attempts that originated in China, and were so coordinated and precise that it was more than likely initiated by the PLA, who supposedly handles all of China's cyber-warfare. At least that's what I've read, and I cannot confirm if it is true.

So anyway, I just wanted to say that your thread caught my attention, and I appreciate you posting it. I wonder if these intel agencies gather OSINT from this website??? I think that would be the extent of "disinformation agents," although many of you guys disagree with me.

Well...as we know, regarding Russian, Obama is our double agent. He blew off getting caught on what he thought was a dead mic whispering to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev....

My personal opinion. Obama has set the tone on loose lips rampant in this current administration. They should start their investigation with him. The rest all filters down from the top.

I'm sure they are going to find leaks in the Whitehouse, everyone takes a leak sooner or later. They should set up cameras in the restrooms to find leaks. I don't care if there's cameras there, I never go there anyway. They may may leeks in Obama's garden outside too, I'm sure things don't exactly chive out there.

He did say it would be the most transparent administration in history

I'm kind of sick at how they quickly launch an investigation into leaks, but they don't care so much about looking into fast&furious/DOJ corruption.

Not really surprising that they focus their efforts into the preservation of the state. Even in the face of possible public outcry. Ex. obscuring job numbers and broadly labeling "green jobs" in a time of economic crisis(used loosely because it can get a lot worse).

This is from my thread that got tossed

McCain blasts White House over leaks

It is almost laughable to me.
Let's have another investigation before we finish with Fast and Furious,
Health Care.
Let's let some flunkies heads roll in the process. Maybe some more secret service dudes.
Obama will simply do the pardon dance when he will waltz away from all the discusting messes.
No difference for the right either. Liddy etc.
There is absolutely no accountability from the Big Fat Country Club

Exactly, where have there been any accomplishments made since we now have a Socialist/ Communist government?

You mentioned the lack of accountability from the big fat country club. It really does seem like there's a class in this world that can do whatever they wish with no consequence, doesn't it? That's one of those things that makes me feel like that there's something not quite right..that not everything is as it appears on the surface.

All you need to know is that there are a lot of unhappy disenfranchised Soviets running amok.
