ETA What day would you suggest as being appropriate for "celebrating Christmas" then? 1st of January? 1st of April? Maybe the 24th of June?

edit on 6/6/12 by LightSpeedDriver because: ETA

I would NEVER pick a day but it's well known that the 25th of december isn't yeshuas birthday. This event was marked by the romans, not by christians.
And the sabbath isn't sunday

I have to laugh because some of my family members are "blind" Christians. They absolutely believe what is written in the Bible and don't even mention the truth about Christmas being the "Pagan Winter Festival". I have one niece who won't even talk to me because I pointed out that the words” under God” were inserted in to the pledge of allegiance by Eisenhower. She adamantly claimed that the pledge was written that way.... but it was not….

Getting back on topic;

Germany was clearly a majority Protestant and Catholic when Hitler came to power. I do think Hitler's beliefs were malleable to the need or situation at hand. He is more like our current politicians than I would care to admit. However, Hitler was arrested as a Socialist in 1919 which is a political ideology and not a religious one.

But I believe religion is more a societal control theory then socialism could easily be included as a religion. Hitler then moved into fascism and into neo-fascism from what I see.

I can't compare modern Christians with Hitler but sometimes there are similarities in their totalitarianism thought patterns.

Excellent comment man. Hitler was dynamic and it has proven successful even in these days. He has people fooled.
As far as the pagan holidays, there's hardly anything to gain by knowing such a thing as people still believe the roman catholic leadership to be true and just.
The rc church is coming to an end apparently so the true will be slammed in unbelievers faces soon enough.
Yes this # gets under my skin and i don't know what else to say but I apologize

I guess the fact that Hitler at the age of 8 attended a Catholic school might have some bearing on whether he is a Christian or not.

Religions are all about control and it really doesn't matter what control theroy... political or religious it all about control. I can understand why so many people fall into the blind religiontrap because they really don't want to know. they need a world where their freedom is limited because that is what they grew up with and they have been internally programmed to think this way whether it is true or not. It's threatening because this hitler thing is being propagated and planted to the "right" wing.
We live in a different world now where lies can change the course of history

MUSLIMS FOUGHT WITH HITLER, YET IT'S IGNORED BY "SCHOLARS"

What's so hard to understand? I don't care if you despise the jew jesus

While it is true that December 25th used to be a pagan holiday (Saturnalia it was called, if my memory serves me right) and it was usurped early on in the history of Christianity, it has been nevertheless established for more than a thousand years as the date of birth of Jesus (even if nobody really knows when he was born). So, for all intents and purposes it is a Christian holiday. Million of Christians all over the world celebrate it.

Or possibly, the fact that hitlers grandfather was a jewish man. That is, of course, if the jews are an actual race.
It's still being debated

Strangely though, I'd say about 8 out of 10 people I know who went to a Catholic school not only fell away from Catholicism (if even they were Catholic to begin with - there's a whole sub-scandal in the UK of parents pretending in order to get their kids into the 'better' school) but are also atheist/pagan now. Different era/society though, but I thought it was interesting to note.

It's so crazy how hypocritical the "new left" has become

I had to laugh at how ironic that is. He didn't even know who his father was. I would rationalize that if Hitler found this out later in life that he would have a vendetta against Jews because of this. However, I don't know if it was the the case but in fact the "rich and elite" at that time in history were the oligarchs at the time were in danger of being overthrown and though they could hijack the socialist/fascists movements for profit.

but I have to laugh that it is probably true that Hitler was Jewish...

on a side note, I wonder if Mitt Romney will baptize Hitler into mormanism to absolve hime.... now theres a tangent way off line!

Seems like you let a few negative comments about yourself being a Nazi get to you a little bit. It's not a big deal.
I'm Vietnamese and I was born in the North. People call me a communist all the time. I never supported Ho Chi Minh, I wasn't even born yet. I don't know if he was a Christian or not, it's only a name. I deny almost all textbook information. Except coloring books, those things are NEVER wrong.

Point is, who cares? It seems like you are trying to defend your beliefs, but I would just advise you to defend with an invisible barrier and not a noisy iron gate.

If I were a Mormon, I'd have started out right away by going through the big guns - Hitler, Stalin, Atilla, Caesar, Alexander, Hannibal, Napoleon, Washington, Patton, Rommel... if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly

oh yay! another christian fantacy thread

This article gives an overview about religion in Nazi Germany and the Nazis' complex and shifting policy towards religion. The German census of May 1939 indicates that 54 percent of Germans considered themselves Protestant and 40 percent considered themselves Catholic, with only 3.5 percent claiming to be neo-pagan "believers in God," and 1.5 percent unbelievers. This census came more than six years into the Hitler era.

en.wikipedia.org...

Article 24 of the Nazi Party program demanded "liberty for all religious denominations in the State so far as they are not a danger to...the moral feelings of the German race. The party stands for positive Christianity." However, that rosy view of the future for Christianity changed as the following views from the Minister for Church Affairs in 1937 show. "Positive Christianity is National Socialism. National Socialism was the doing of God's will. God's will reveals itself in German blood. The Führer is the herald of a new revelation."

Well he knew something or else he would have been scrubbed off the earth sooner. If you read the timeline, it just doesn't add up/.
Hitler was clearly supported by the vatican and by other entities who retain their silence

I know we are screwed. I look at both political parties and see them under the same corporate influence. I don't believe we should have payroll tax or real estate taxes but a sales tax along with eliminating all corporate tax deduction and they pay a flat percentage tax on sales....

enough of the smoke and mirrors BS
