With over 60% of the precincts reporting Fox News is calling Scott Walker the winner of the Wisconsin recall election. He currently has nearly 60% of the vote with the current tally in what is an obvious repudiation of Mayor Barrett's pro-spending, pro-public union sentiment.

The implications for the November election are enormous as President Obama declined to invlove himself in the recall election, apart from a tweet earlier in the week. This lack of belief in the Barrett campaign indicates that he did not want to link himself with a failed candidate and further jeopardize the upcoming Presidential election.

The message sent by the people of Wisconsin was quite clear as the turnout and results move this into the 'mandate' category.

There is still 80% of the state to count and they announce the winner. I think I'll wait till all of the votes are counted tyvm FOX.

NBC and CNN are also projecting Walker as the winner with almost 40% reporting. Barrett has lost resoundingly.

The unions priced themselves out of the job in many places including Detroit.

And because of them, I am stuck, 2000 miles from home, under employed with no hope for retirement.

Could not happen to a more deserving group.

I think the fact that they now have a balanced budget and reduced unemployment may have played a small role in the defeat of Barrett.

Unfortunately, I think both sides were at fault on this issue.

Unions did make some concessions on their part, but the environment they created was counter-productive to business.

The anti-union crowd refuses to see how important worker's rights and the right to unionize are; deciding to uphold the corporate agenda over the welfare of the "EveryMan" worker.

So it's hard for me to take a stance on the entire issue....but I can say that Walker being elected again is bad, bad, bad! Even if I completely agreed with him it's hard to support him since he has a knack for saying dumb crap and I think it's nice to say that he is a moron at best.

The Republicans couldn't have done better?

Great!

Corporations will be glad to pay you $.50 an hour -

Once these politicians rig America from the inside you will miss the good old days.

Thank goodness those slimy union members have less to spend in Wisconsin,

that will help the economy

I am not anti-Union. I am anti-public union as they are greatly responsible for the fiscal mess that the country and many states find themselves in. I am tired of my tax dollars going to pay for mediocrity that can not get fired without major contortions. They should be held to the same standards as any other worker.

Yeah decreased property taxes on those citizens will mean they have more to spend on themselves than paying someone 100k a year an get 4 months vacation.

Sorry, I work for a HUGE corporation and I make way more than that.

They are FORCED to pay me a lot because otherwise I would go somewhere else with my talents. That is how the free market works. Hard work is rewarded, slugs get fired.

I actually make a good living. But it is because I produce value in my work for the company. In fact I work like a fiend running up to 5 test stands all by myself while also supervising a crew.

Not because I have been hanging my hat there for 25 years.

If I fail to produce, company will be correct to dismiss me.

The deals the UAW made call for people to be paid to do NOTHING.

Can't stay in business doing that for very long.

Unless you are the Gov...

Moral of this story: recall elections not such a great idea.

Edit... 58% to 41% is a land slide
