Very cool!

Is that in real time, because Venus appears to moving quickly. I am trying to view it here in Southern Caifornia, but I can't see the "Little Black Dot on the Sun Today" with my naked eyes, through a filter, of course.

Well done
. Had my scope on it today. Some of my co-workers took camera phone pics but nothing like that. Don't you hate it when some jerk bumps the scope
. Just kidding. Very nice!

Been waiting for this event for awhile and...
It's been blasted cloudy here all stinkin' day.
...and there isn't a sun to be viewed.

Thanks for the excellent videos Cohort.
Definitely top notch!

I was so excited for this I made my own pin-hole camera to experience it for myself. What happens next? The bloody weather contains clouds, clouds, a bit of sunli- no wait, more clouds.

You've got the grand kids there with you?
Way cool... Please give them the opportunity to hold the shadow of Venus in their hands.
Project the Sun onto their hands using your telescope and they'll be holding the planets shadow.
See the this thread: I’ve held a planet’s shadow in my hand. How you can too.

What a great day!

Nice! What solar screen/filter do you use? I had to project it from my telescope to some paper. Still came out good, but would have been nice to have filter.

here is my best one..... The others were so-so, because the clouds kept on moving in, so I couldn't get good coverage, and I missed the last part of it totally due to clouds.... Will see tonight when I get home how much I can salvage of the other video clips, as I'll have to manually select the cloudless frames.

Great shots everyone! Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy this morning here in France.

I will comfort myself with some upcoming other transit/occultation events:

- Moon occult Venus: ----------------> 2012 August 13rd, 7h43'UT
- Moon occult Mars:-------------------> 2012 September 19th
- Moon occult Jupiter:----------------> 2012 June 17th
- Moon occult Saturn:----------------> 2013 December 01st

For more detailed infos about these events, see my thread "Occultations: rare and beautiful events in the Solar System - Part 1 - Sun and Moon
