China Bars Stock Index Web Search after Tianamen Match

www.bbc.co.uk

China has blocked access to the term "Shanghai Composite Index" on some of the country's most popular microblogging sites.

This was after the index dropped by 64.89 points on Monday.

The numbers correspond to 4 June 1989, the date of the crackdown against protesters at Beijing's Tiananmen Square.

This is quite a strange story on many different front:

1) Is China hiding some anticipated action on the stockmarkets today?

2) Is this merely an over-enthusastic response to a coincidental figure?

3) Talk about syncronicity! The dates for Tianamen square come up twice on the stock markets!

4) Shows China are still quite paranoid about the power of Tianamens memory = still paranoid about the power of their people.
