Some believers think that there will be 144,000 literally physical (super jews) jews who transcend and get angelic bodies to minister on earth during the great tribulation in order to convert as many humans as they can before Christ returns.

Then, Yesterday, I saw Superman 2, starring Christopher Reeves and Terrence Stamp. At one point of the movie, Superman saves a boy from a deadly fall in the Niagara, and then folks say: "Superman is such a nice guy!" to which another folk replies: "Of course, Superman is Jewish!".

Is there something I should know that I don't? Why are "superpowers" attributed to Jew folks? What does Hollywood wants us to believe?

Uh yeah, no, Superman as a character was created by two Jewish artists, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, but in the comic book world Superman was raised Protestant by a childless couple on a farm in the middle of Kansas.

As for Magneto, the character was always very ambiguous until successive writers fleshed out the character's motive and background story. The apparent goal for Magneto's world domination is so that the mutants don't suffer a similar fate as the Jews in Nazi Germany. What's important to note is that after the Holocaust, Magneto doesn't show any signs of holding onto his faith, rather abandoning it after all that he had witnessed and been subjected to. So, I don't know how a supervillain that ostensibly renounces his religion can be related to an image that Jewish people have superpowers.

Good try, though, but there's actually a lot more Christian and Old-World religion superheroes than there are Jewish ones.

it's part of the back story for the character. the original magneto wasn't, necessarily, jewish but, in an effort to give more of an explanation to his stance regarding the mutants, they made him a jewish survivor of a nazi concentration camp. Now, Magneto does what he does to help the mutants avoid the same fate as jews in nazi germany.

Whether or not the woman said "Of course, he's jewish." or "Of course he is." has been a matter of debate a few weeks ago between my partner and myself. Full disclosure, we're jews.

It came down to us agreeing that whether or not the sentence was uttered, the idea that different groups would claim Superman as their own isn't unique to Superman, it is just a form of in-grouping. Everyone wants to identify with the cool guy.

This is why you see pictures of a Anglo-Saxan Jesus, an Arabic Jesus, and an African Jesus. Lots of people want to claim that guy too.
