What makes you think they would come by sea? Look at how many illegals make it across the border every day and that's just from Mexico. Take a trip up north at the Canadian border Miles upon miles of nothing but open borders. It would be easier than you think.

Doubt if China will ever get into physically invading the USA but I believe they will employ their fiscal domination to control how the USA acts/reacts.

They're hoovering up $$$s and USA is getting ever-more dependent upon China for its consumer goods. Game is in play and it will, likely, end with real global power shifting east.

If the SHTF we may be invaded by all kinds of foreigners. Right now there is a war going on with the Asian Carp.

Honestly, why would we worry about being invaded, we're property of corporations and banks already. If we want to leave this country they may start charging us 95 thousand dollars, our share of the national debt.

A army can easily invade our borders just look at how much open coastline we have. A small well trained outfit could easily penetrate our borders and set a base of operations.

But look at this scenario, In the movie "Enemy at the gates" The battle of Stalingrad where the German 6th army (under the command of General Paulis) has occupied that city, And the Russian offencive/counter attack takes place.

Now this is important for all you legal gun holders, The Russian army command assembles their forces for the attack,
The vast majority are made up of Militas localy raised "civilians" with knowledge of firarms training and the such and then dispatched to confront the "enemy at the gates" (Nazis).. They where (the local milita) heavily out guned and out manovered by a regulare full time Army, and basicly mown down in thier droves,

This is what is going to happen to you Patriotic Americans in that type of scenario.
Basicly TPTB will get rid of all desenters to your homelands ocupation in a cull wraped in the pretence of you defending America from a foreign army on your lands.

Now this is purley my own opinion, But be carefull of the attitude "Over my dead body".

One of the problems with an EMP prior to invasion is that the results are highly variable, and not guaranteed to take out hardened military sites. At any give time, the US has fully half of the planet's aircraft carrier abroad. These would have to be neutralized individually, around the globe, before they could retaliate against the aggressor state. This doesn't address the strategic nukesub capability, or ICBM bases, both of which are protected to some theoretical extent versus EMP.

But suppose the retaliatory problems could be overcome. America itself has proven in Vietnam and Afghanistan that you cannot hold territory merely by controlling the skies. It takes boots on the ground.

The USA is the fourth largest nation on earth, right behind, and nearly tied with, China. So if the Chinese were going to invade and occupy the US, they'd have to hold their own state (which is a chore for them right now) and double the land mass they control. Russia is nearly twice the land mass of the US, but has a much smaller population than China; again, they would be hard pressed to secure their own state and another one in the bargain.

In the wake of an EMP, nearly all of the vast US resources would be unavailable because they all depend on the electrical infrastructure which the aggressor had just destroyed. If it would be years before US crop production could be brought back to pre-attack levels, this would be equally true for a foreign master---even without US partisan activity.

Many non-Americans who have not spent time away from the coast have difficulty understanding the broad depth of American gun ownership and outright jingoism. With its large army, many young people have military training and even combat experience from Iraq and Afghanistan. Neither China nor Russia have been involved in a major military action in the past decade. America has initiated two, and has the veterans to show for it.

The US landscape West of the Mississippi includes both vast plains and rugged mountain chains. Holding all this land mass, with a well armed and educated populace, would be an insurmountable obstacle. And while America's reputation has been sullied in the past decade, few peoples around the world would be celebrating either Chinese or Russian Empire replacing US hegemony.

Shouldn't we see what side they are on and what they offer first ?
Because they still would have the power to bomb us, if we are in kaos.

I wouldn't worry much about it. They'd have to control 3 million square miles of territory and about 20,000 cities and towns, not including the 60 million people or so in purely rural areas. The math doesn't exactly work in their favor. Their supply lines would be long, highly vulnerable, and under constant attack and its entirely possible that within three to six months much of the invasion force would be stranded, out of fuel and starving. And there's also the probability that the invasion would be met with a nuclear response, anyway, which makes it all the more impractical for the invader.

Oh, I don't think a foreign invasion is unlikely. It seems bound to happen. So many other nations would be so happy to see our downfall. They'd like to see us taken down a notch, or worse, wiped out completely and they will have this vast land.

And you know what? I think they are already here, posing as citizens, trying to blend in. Surveying the land. The attack from within.

The Chinese own us. We are so so POOR. They are the next superpower I think.

It wouldn't happen.
Even if the 3 largest militaries added up there people and came over, they don't have enough to man the country.
Look at the current and past wars in the middle east. How many thousands of forces were just in and around just 1 city? How many cities are there in america? Alot more than in the current theaters of opperation for the military now.
Plus will the amount of people and weapons in the USA they would have so many non military to fight also..so I personally don't think anything like that will happen...

It is certainly true that a lot of our fellow nations are resentful; some more so and some less so. But watching us be invaded would likely change that. For all that other states complain about us, we provide several things that they would quickly feel when absent.

-The US dollar is still the global medium of trade. Even China or Russia would feel extreme economic shock if the dollar suddenly came into question.

-American debt. While the whole planet complains about the diminishing quality of American debt, the whole world also uses our debt as a store of value, and a benchmark against which others are measured. Compare it with England or France. If I remember correctly, the UK has missed bond payments twice in the past 250 years. Meanwhile France and repudiated its debt 5 times in the same span. A lot of Americans think that Swiss franc is a reserve currency, since it hasn't joined the Euro, and is "old." Yet it only came into existence in 1816, the year after Napoleon's empire was finally crushed once and for all.
Without American debt, a lot of world-wide reinsuring and escrow wouldn't even exist.

-Safety of the commons. Like it or hate it, America controls the non-nationalized areas of our world. namely, the international waters and international airspace, and all space above several miles. Piracy ends when a few nations commit to suppressing piracy in the Malacca Straight, or the Somali coast. But they don't commit to it until America says that what they are doing is counter-piracy, and not outright warfare. Yes, America is the sea-cop. And deepwater navies go wherever they want because America lets them. Argentina will only take the Falklands when America cannot prevent them.

America's control of the seas is also why the Russian government hates the US---Russia doesn't have any bluewater ports in the old world (like Spain, France or UK, which is why each of them have had a global Empire in turn). And their ports in the East are far, far removed from Russian trade and military power.

If America were invaded, even unsuccessfully, it would create global chaos and some degree of panic. The world would definitely never be the same.

THREAD BUMP

Just a little reading has convinced me that China is unable to wage war against the United States.

China imports over half of its oil consumption.

nearly 70% of that oil comes from the Middle East--the bulk of it from Iran.

In the event of hostilities, China would find itself instantly without oil supplies. China has multiple pipes to Iran, but also requires supertankers hourly from the gulf full of Iranian oil. China is Iran's primary customer. So any threat to Iran is a grave threat to China's oil. Likewise Iran would be in an instant crisis if China curtailed its purchases of crude. Either way, the US closing the Straight of Hormuz would be an immediate crisis for China, and indeed all of asia.

The other chokepoint for China is the Malacca Straight. This narrow channel is how all the oil gets to East Asia, at least 15 million barrels a day. Not to mention all the iron that China must import.

I believe China will not be a threat to the US (militarily) for the next 5-10 years. However, it is obvious that the Chinese are working hard to diversify and contain the US naval threat.

The geography of the US makes it pretty difficult for a successful invasion by any current superpower or even former one.

While they could airdrop in sufficient numbers to do a first strike taking of territory...the logistics of supporting that army is nearly impossible at least with the current military forces in place. Any power has to cross an ocean to do so. (exposing yourself for attack on the way).

Not to mention, they'd need a base for air operations. (that wouldn't be taken out as soon as it's established).

Add to that, the general patriotism of the average American (when faced with a unifying threat), and such an invasion would be an absolute nightmare for any invading force.

We have TONS of military bases throughout the nation, including a part-time civilian military. Not to say it's impossible, but anything shy of full commitment, and the use of nukes and/or biologics, and there is simply zero chance of success. (and of course, if doing that, then you'd see your own nation go up in mushroom clouds)...

The nuclear deterrent alone is probably the single reason we haven't had another world war in over half a century. Like it or not, these weapons have forced everyone to play nice, or play even sneakier....
