Remember this thread i posted some time ago regarding a cargo ship turned away after it was heaving with spiders?
Cargoship turned away due to spiders

Where did it go?
How were there so many spiders on board?
For silk? Scientific purposes? an attack?

I thought i would post because it may be relevant.

Yes this part is the most interesting in the story...

"As of now, we cannot give a specific name. It's similar to the tarantula, but it could be a whole new species"

Wow it says..

The shipment had been destined for a US military base construction site on the island for 8,000 US Marines.
Sure sounds like an attack. Wonder how that thread made so few flags/stars.

I took the image that was supplied from India's news website.
It's possible it may actually look like the one they show in their image.
Until there is more info, this is what they're giving everyone.

If spider food is abundant then they are happy making lots of baby spiders. Big Spider Orgies result in lots of spider eggs which gestate and hatch out all at once. As the babies grow and their food supply dwindles then they begin to move. If people report "attacks" then they must be hungry. Like locusts, as soon as they all starve there will be no more problem.

Until next year. dun, dun, dun...dunnnn.

It's UNBELIEVABLE how many people on the news site in India are outright blaming China for this! They came to this conclusion immediately! So much hate!

What's interesting was this one fella said this:

That looks like a funnelweb or at least related to it.
Oh, nvm i see its already been addressed.

I effing hate spiders

Great.

I'm planning on being in India in few months.

Serious question: Is it counter to Indian culture to kills spiders?

I think the Buddhist religion frowns against killing any living creature.

Yeah they do. They hold everything sacred which imho isnt a bad thing at all. Plants, animals, mammals and each other. Thinking about it in depth,.....what a world we would be capable of having if we all felt the same. I actually hoped that someone would create a thread regarding their religion.

I believe it's instinct to be afraid of spiders ( I have arachnophobia myself) because...they can kill you.
I hate spiders...they are evil.

I hate spiders.....the only one I am not afraid of is the Daddy-Long-Legs
Just the thought of spiders in India attacking people gives me the Willies!
I am curious how cargo destined to a Marine Base ended up with so many spiders that it was denied entry to the base. Could it have been intentional? "UGHHHH ! "

Spiders ain't evil and as that is your opinion, i will just say:

At present there are about 34,000 recorded and named species of spiders in the world, it is believed that there maybe between 75,000 and 100,000 actual species of spiders, so only less than half of all the potential types have actually been identified.

As for the number of non-venomous spiders, all spiders use venom to kill their food but, in most species this venom is only harmful to their food (insects and some mammals, birds and reptiles).

Only about a dozen species of spider have venom that is actually harmful to humans, of those only one is a tarantula, all the others are generally small spiders such as the notorious Black Widow or the Brazilian Wandering Spider..
