There you go, you just admitted our Presidential candidates are picked by private organizations.
The country club elites, and we're not invited.

Wait a second. I am a bit confused here....

If we are to believe so many anti Paul threads and posts on this site, your telling me this well dressed, 60+ year old man with a fake hip is some pot smoking, trouble making, fanatical Ron Paul supporter who has no idea about respect, and the process. He is just some simple minded crazy Paul supporter?

What amuses me most is watching the usual suspects pop in and actually attempt to justify this at all. The assertions our usual suspects are making is so far into the realm of ridiculousness that it is not even worth the effort to engage in debate with this type of stupidity.

I do agree with what one poster said.... Tampa is going to be ugly.

I wonder it it will be on tv or webcam, If it became ugly would they cut the feed?

Lets say IF Dr.Paul was winning would the feed be cut and some how Mitt wins?

I see up and down my street Paul signs and most of them had Obama sings last time, ( glad they see the light )

Talked to my father, just now. He's been watching it, and thinks we will go to court over this and other infractions in the process. Damned shame, but corruption has been the name of the game down here far longer than in other states. We were supposedly over it, by my generation.

And what do you hope to win by going to court?

The rule changes were to ensure that Santorum and Romney had delegates that actually supported them....what is wrong with that?

They didn't get any extra delegates....just ensured that the peopled represented them would actually represent them.

What is wrong with that???

They could be if they wanted to...nothing is preventing them.

But they have decided to have this primary system...and this year the man who is winning the most votes will get the nomination....exactly what is wrong with that?

Do you honestly want the man who couldn't get above 15% in his own state, not win a single State, and lose the popular vote by a disgustingly huge margin to get the nomination???

Is that your version of "fair"???

They are saying "The Chairman was removed".

Read these two articles...this convention was well aware of the trouble the Paul supporters were going to try to cause, so they amended the rules to prevent them from doing so.

www.nola.com...

www.nola.com...

From what I can tell, the Paul people probably tried to still vote out the sitting chairman...but with the new rules they needed two thirds vote to do so...which they didn't have.

From the video, I would guess the Paul supporters just tried to ignore the new rules and claim they voted out the chairman and put the guy being escorted out as the new chairman. The reason the original chairman is still talking is because he IS the official chairman.

Just more antics from the Paul people that are making Paul look bad...and he specifically asked his supporters not to do this kind of thing.

You mean they changed the rules in the middle of the game again. This does nothing to make Paul look bad, are you blind? I can't believe your trolling is allowed to continue, they have the nomination, but are still cheating. and fools like you support it. Unfreakingreal, wake up.

Yea I agree Tampa is going to be a firestorm if stories like this keep coming up. this is just the appetizer before the main course makes it to the table.

I just got back in not to long ago. I was canvasing my city for Ron Paul (flyers to poles and cars) and missed what was going on within this thread.

so from what i am getting from the replies here is that they changed the rules mid-way through... someone disagreed (and it happened to be the old man in the video) and somehow its this guys fault because he's a Ron Paul supporter?

ummm wth?

The rules were amended sometime last week...not during the convention.

Contrary to popular belief here on ATS....Ron Paul supporters don't get to make the rules.

Just read the articles...it explains it quite well. The Ron Paul supporters were going to ignore the new rules, pretend to vote out the chairman and run thier own convention and elect their own delegates. Sorry...they can't ignore the rules....more than likely any delegates they elect will just be thrown out and the delegates the official convention elects will go to Tampa.

the campaign is over. what I mean by that is these nuts are taking out frustration at the system, under the guises of a ron paul revolution.

didn't Paul ask them not to behave this way ?

if he can't control his own cult, what kind of executive would he make ?

just a mess all around

Ron Paul may have to go to each individual State convention just to babysit his supporters and to tell them to follow the rules.

Maybe that is why he can't campaign anymore.

Let me get this strait.
Romney got the magic number of delegates already with his big win in Texas to secure the nomination.
But the GOP feels he needs more.
Why, if he already has the nomination locked up ?
Nice try again OKS.

Rules were set up specifically to disenfranchise Ron Paul supporters? Is that legal?

I'm not sure exactly what happened there, but it sounds pretty underhanded.

The GOP is a private organization...they can make any rules they want to.

Kind of like what happened to Hillary Clinton in 2008 with the democrats, eh?

No. They cannot make rules that allow them to commit election fraud.

These aren't government election...they are meetings of a private organization.

The GOP could cancel the primary process right now and just appoint anyone they want as the GOP presidential candidate if they wanted to.

Statement that was made by the Paul Campaign about the events that happened during the LAGOP

“The unnecessary conflict, and positive conclusion as we understand it, transpired as follows.

“LAGOP officials ignored the vast majority of duly elected delegates and attempted to use illegally adopted rules to deny Ron Paul supporters an opportunity to attend the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Louisiana has 46 delegates. Five were pledged to Mitt Romney based on the March 23rd primary result and Rick Santorum received 10, meaning most delegates were contestable at the state convention.

...

“In yet another instance, Ron Paul supporter Alex Helwig, Chairman of the Rules Committee who made the motion to remove the chair, was arrested by Shreveport police and released. During his brief detainment, some of his fingers were broken and when he returned to the event he was walking with aid of a cane.

“By 10:50 a.m. today, the newly formed convention completed its work. Newly-elected national delegates met with the Romney campaign’s Louisiana Chairman, Scott Sewell, who graciously said ‘that he supported the effort and would do everything he could to make sure the delegation was seated’ in Tampa.

So when the GOP change the rules it's cheating but when Paul supporters try to change the rules to unbind delegates it's fair play?

The chairman has TOTAL POWER to do whatever he wants as long as the national Republican party recognizes his actions as legitimate no matter how illegitimate they may be and no matter which rules are broken.

This is exactly what is meant by the saying it's the RULE BY MEN NOT BY LAWS.

In Oklahoma the delegates were selected by a fraud voice vote. The chairman offered who he wanted as the slate, asked for voice vote, one or two people out of thousands there said yes, and he recognized them as being 'elected' delegates which was a total fraud. But, no matter, the RNC recognizes his delegates.

From the video it looks like they had much more than two thirds majority to elect a new chairman. However the current chairman has TOTAL POWER and doesn't need to recognize any vote to replace him.

The rule could be over 7 / 8 majority or over 19 / 20 majority and if the votes cleared those hurdles, it wouldn't matter. He could chose not to recognize the vote.
