Ronald Reagan held a Veteran's Day speech at the Vietnam Memorial. (link)

GW Bush held a speech at the Memorial one year (2002) and held a speech at the Arlington Cemetery several years (2003, 2006, 2008), closing down both for each appearance.

Obama has done nothing different than his predecessors, holding a ceremony nearly identical in nature to those of Reagan and Bush.

It's been a tradition for several administrations now that a president lays a wreath at the memorial on Veteran's Day (which ALWAYS results in the public being shunned away).

So what exactly has got the crazies all worked up this time around? Obama doing the same thing as his predecessors or Obama not fitting in with your prejudiced views of how and what a president should look like?

President Obama did not "hold a ceremony nearly identical in nature" to his predecessors. He gave a speech ... with the people not allowed anywhere near him ... as usual. Thank you for your link; you made it easy to see that Reagan did give a Veteran's Day speech at the Wall. Did you happen to notice all the people in the crowd just in front of him .... not held far away by a fence?

And i'll need you to help me out with the part about Bush. I'm no Bush fan but absolutely nothing turned up in a search for Bush closing either the Wall nor the Cemetery when he gave speeches from those locations during those years. I'm not saying it didn't happen; i'm saying i can find nothing in a search for it. So? Got any links to back up your claims?? I provided photographic evidence of my claim - the burden is upon you to do the same.

Lastly, i am pretty danged certain that the Admins put out a notice that there was to be no more race baiting on this site. So, unless you can make a solid case of why YOU (and NO ONE else) brought his appearance into this issue, you, sir, are race baiting. Your pitiful tactic left "trite" in the dust long ago. You might want to at least try something new.

In my not so humble opinion (on this particular issue), those who pull the race card at any opportunity, particularly invented opportunities, are far more 'crazy' than those who are offended at the idea of Veterans and their families traveling, in some cases, thousands of miles, to honor their fallen ones ... and then not being allowed to do so.

You so sadly and obviously missed the point, so here it is: This Administration had the VietNam Memorial Wall shut off to Veterans and their families for five to seven HOURS, depending upon which report you read, so Mr. President could make a speech that lasted 15 minutes and get a few pics taken. They could have made advance announcements that the Wall would be closed through many, many different opportunities - media, VFW, Am Legion, VietNam Vet organizations, etc. They did not. It is known that the VietNam Vets make this annual pilgrimage ... and it's not like the President just decided the night before, on the spur of the moment, to give his speech there. They just did not care if all those people came all those miles to pay tribute to their loved ones.

I did find these:

See all the people NEAR the President: Swanson thanks Pres Bush

Well, i wasn't there but i'd have to say these faces don't look like they are receiving the admiration of the crowd, do they? From my POV, the look on the face of Mrs. Biden could easily be taken as one of embarrassment. President and Mrs. Obama look downright angry and offended:

Well done, thank you for the heads up, I will E-Mail this to a lot of people who will send it on. Once again the idiot in charge has failed with his "look at me" socialist agenda.Everyday this idiot does something that makes you step back in disbelief.
I'm thinking there were two agendas going on here, one being the obvious "I am king" rhetoric the other to see if the vets would cause a scene which would then have been all over the MSM, point being it did not bleed so it did not lead. Also it even made the idiot look bad to the MSM or they would have led with it as "look what the prez did on Veterns Day".............another compleat FAIL by Obama.

the vets shoulda booed him down when he gave his speech

Yeah. I guess they werent as upset over this non-issue as a few bloggers were.

And you know that how, please? We do not know if they 'booed him down' or not. We do not know if they turned their backs to him like they did to Clinton. We do not know anything at all except what we can read from the blogs and the pics of the event posted to the blogs. We don't know because main stream media isn't talking about it.

And you think it was a non-issue to stand around for 5-7 hours while you waited to see IF you could touch the name of your lost loved one? Or lay the wreath or flower you brought? Or transfer the name of someone with whom you served ... or saw get captured and never learned their fate until you found their name on that Wall? Or point out to your grandchild something like 'See? This was your Grandpa. He was a hero but he died even before/right after your Mommy/Daddy was born." A non-issue? Really? Have mercy. smh

Lord, God Almighty,

Please remove the pathologically lying Narcissist-In-Chief, tyrannical illegal alien, traitorous, duplicitous Muslim satanist globalist from the public scene as soon as you care to work it out in whatever way you choose, Oh, Lord.

May he reap an abundance of all the evil and destructiveness he has sown and that with 666% interest.

May he learn as soon as possible that there are consequences for evil choices gleefully afflicted on honorable people.

This is such an idiotic thread..

Basically it is OK for certain presidents to do this but not Obama...God you Obama haters are ridiculous.

First you complain that Obama did this...then when shown other pics of other presidents doing the exact same thing...you then change tactics and say...look at how all the people are closer to the other presidents....

They do not look closer or further in those pics...hell you can't even tell the distance in them.

It certainly doesn't surprise me that Obama was insensitive enough to close the wall on the one day out of 364 that we pay respects to our fallen comrades. It was nothing more than a campaign speech. Do you think it bothered him that he inconvenienced thousands of vets and family members ? I sure hope everyone remembers this come election day, because I'm convinced Obama can't be trusted. His agenda is rapidly becoming obvious, and anyone who can't see this just have their heads in the sand. We might as well have elected H. Karzai as president.

We must get him out ASAP ! I can't stand Romney either, but I have no doubt that he's an American. And whoever is behind the grand lie that allowed Obama the opportunity to run for President should be tried for treason.

I find it interesting you have basically two camps on this thread
people who feel Obama is NOT leadership material, and opposuite that, the people who in their defence of His lack of Leadership Quality, prove it

one almost prays for more vote fraud

the ONLY support Obama has given the troops is to allow them beastialty in the Baraks

If you had bothered reading, veterans were not allowed to the wall. It was closed to them.
That is what the fuss is about. How did you miss that? The title makes it clear, the post made it clear. Let me ask, do you have trouble reading?

Reading what - a heavily biased anti-Obama blog piece? Maybe the fact it was the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam war and the ceremony included a whole lot more than just the president, in fact quite a crowd of veterans and their families turned out to see the ceremony at the wall, to claim they were 'shut out' is a load of bull. according to his itinerary he held a breakfast with Vietnam veterans at the WH, laid the traditional wreath at Arlington, then held the 50th anniversary commemoration of the war at the Vietnam Wall, with vets and their families in attendance. Yet the ODS (Obama derangement syndrome) must have been in high gear to claim Obama "shut out" veterans. His memorial day service looked like it was pretty inclusive and paid special homage to Vietnam vets. and looked a LOT like the one Reagan held at the wall during his term, which I had attended as part of the US Navy honor guard. It was no different then than it was with Obama, just as it is no different every year at Arlington, no matter who is president. You could just as easily have written than Reagan or Bush or Clinton ceremonies at the wall were "closed to all Veterans", to paint them in a negative light as the author of this piece was clearly doing.

I could have used any source, I thought that one was suitable since it had more photos included with the article. Now, since you chose to use an ad-hominem attack on the link, maybe you'd feel more comfortable with a Fox News article:

Can you please show us "other pics of other presidents doing the exact same thing?" I asked for them, but at least up to your post, none have been supplied. Do you, perhaps, have any? Did you see pics of other presidents lining the Wall with guards and fencing the crowd back at The Wall? Maybe they are farther down past your post and i've just not read that far? If so, you'll have my apology. If not, you bear a burden of proof for your claims.

As i said in an earlier post, i searched every way i could think of to search to verify that same implication from another poster of 'other Presidents doing the same thing' and came up with nothing.

I do not hate the President. I do not know the President; therefore, i can't even decide if i dislike him, personally, or not. In fact, i've never known one single President .... not ever ... so i cannot know whether or not i like or dislike them. I hate no one. I might or might not like their policies and some of the things they do and that often IS the case with EACH President since i was old enough to be politically aware.

Yes, you can tell the difference in distance in the pics i posted. You can also see that there is no fence erected between the former Presidents and the crowd. You can also see there is no "wall" of guards in front of The Wall.

But thank you so much for taking your time to come here and tell us how idiotic this discussion is when you, yourself, contributed absolutely nothing to lend credence to your imaginary claims.

This is not true. While there may have been a short period of time that the area was closed for security reason the Wall was not closed to the public on Memorial Day as is illustrated by this picture.

news.yahoo.com...=% 252Fphotos%252Fnation-honors-memorial-day-slideshow%252Fpeople-visit-vietnam-veterans-memorial-wall-memorial-day-photo-205128239.html

If this link does not work, you can look it up yourself. But then that would actually take some effort, so much more fun to just accept what someone you do not know has to say in order to validate your own bigotry.

Well, bless your heart. A pitiful effort, yet you tried again. Did you read the article you provided or even scan the pictures? It's not a very reputable source. Regardless, the *majority* of that article, including the pictures, had to do with Arlington National Cemetery and what went on there. Yes, it does show a couple of pics of the President and The Wall and, (sarcasm on) frankly, i'm just tickled that Tom Selleck was allowed to do a special tribute since he PLAYED the part of a VietNam Vet. (sarc/off)

This thread is about The WALL ... NOT Arlington Cemetery ... but the VietNam Memorial WALL. Try to stay on task.

Again: KNOWING, as everyone knows, that the VietNam Vets, in particular, make a pilgrimage there every, single year without fail, he shut it down from them for 5-7 hours.

How are actual photographs of the Vets and their families being held back and fence off from the Wall highly biased? How is bias shown when you see the line of guards/Secret Service lined up before the Wall to keep visitors away from it? All those Veterans and their families are lying, then, according to you?

And, again, until you or someone else can show us fences erected and guards posted at The Wall to keep the Vets and their families away when previous Presidents were speaking there, it cannot legitimately be claimed that this President's ceremony/speech was identical to that of any President before him.

Repeating the same thing over and over, as you and a couple of others are doing, doesn't make it truth. In fact, to continue to claim other Presidents have done 'the exact same thing' yet offer no proof of it, leaves you coming across as ... well, like defensive liars who are desperately trying to keep the rest of the facade from cracking or, at best, defend your own ignorance and/or denial of truth.
