US Cancer rates to Increse by 55% by 2030

That article says 55% percent increase in incidence, not a 55% increase in rate. There is a difference. Rate is a ratio between incidence an population. Incidence is the total number of cases.

The reasons for the 55% increase in incidence in the US?
More people: 57 million more people. An 18% increase.
Older people: 25 million more people older than 65. A 54% increase.
You don't even have to look at lifestyle to see the implications.

The same thing applies to the world in general. More people + more older people = more cancer. Add lifestyle and exposure to urbanization and industrialization...it's not that mysterious.
