Astronomers in a NASA news conference Thursday said that years of observations from the Hubble Space Telescope provide grisly details of a long-anticipated galactic smashup. Astronomers had seen the Andromeda galaxy coming at us, but thought there was a chance that its sideways motion would make it miss or graze the Milky Way. Hubble readings now indicate that's not the case. Scientists say the sun and Earth are unlikely to be hit by stars or planets from Andromeda because of the vast emptiness of the two galaxies.

What do you all think about this. I find this very interesting that in 5 Billion Years our descendants will be looking at a completely different night sky. We will have to go back to the stone age and explore space all over again, if we ever get to travel among the stars....

Oh well.....Nobody will be around to witness it.

There is a better chance the sun explodes by then anyways....

We can ask the aliens soon if they foresee this in our future....

Yes, our ancestors will look at new stars, but not because of the collision, but because the sun would have become a red giant.

I don't think anyone will exist in 500 years let alone 5 billion.

lol, ok ... but the descendents of the cockroaches would see different skies ..... hmmmm, wonder what a really intelligent cockroach would look like.... Do you think the dinosaurs ever looked down on those small mammals and wondered if they would one day dominate the earth, or do you think they were just as arrogant as us humans?

Uh I think cockroaches looked at about everything come and go and they'll probably look like the aliens in MIB or district 9.
