The Natural World Writing Contest [NATURE][Winners announced], page 1

Out there... away from highways and the hustle-bustle of our busy communities, is another world which many of us have experienced both as a pleasure or, perhaps, a troublesome episode in our lives (like meeting a mother bear and her cubs on a walking trail).

This contest asks you to either write a story loosely based on your own personal experiences in the wild or, if you've never been outside of the city, what you imagine such an outing could be like.

It might be boring, exciting, life-changing or just a plain fantasy... but it should be based upon being entirely within, and perhaps maybe even prey to, the natural world around us (this one we're on, preferrable, but not as a hard rule ).

Title must contain [NATURE]

Enter as many stories as you like, but post them as seperate threads in the Short Story forum.

No upper or lower word count limits

Any writing form acceptable

There will be three winners chosen, based solely on the number of flags their story receives from your fellow members.

The contest runs until midnight, June 30 and the winners announced the following morning of July 1.

Winners only will get writer status, 5 'applauses' each and included in the Showcase of Winners.

Hmmm, this is the second time a new short story contest is opening before the prior closes.
Uhhh I am still finishing working on my june submissions. Lol.

It's June 1 and the former contest is closed with the winners already announced.

BTW... the 'other' Short Story contest running concurrently is just one more way to get involved in writing skills.

Gee, I thought writing about nature would be easy. There's too much, once I thought about it, to discuss in one story. For now, here's one that I hope you enjoy:
