"Images" of other posters

I hope that this doesn't sound too crazy, but I was wondering if anyone else, after posting here for a few months, have an "image" of other members based on reading their posts or just the way they "carry" themselves in discussions. I think you can tell alot about people just by reading what they write or how they say what they're trying to say. If you dont have manners here, chances are that is how you really are in your everyday life. How about a physical image, do you invent an image in your head of what you think others here look like? I think its human nature to conjure up an image of someone after corresponding with them for a certain amount of time. What do you think?

Hmmm? I have never tried to picture any of you.

Actually I do tend to build up an image of certain people in my head. I look at posts and see who started them and can usually tell whether or not I will agree, believe it, etc.. You learn what people actually make a good contribution, and what people to ignore.

Plus you look at people's avatars and that usually builds somewhat of a mental image in my mind.

What you are talking about could be called "heuristics" simple rules of thumb that you use to catagorise the posters and people in general. This makes it easy to quickly react to posters and people you meet.

You also do start to build up a mental image about what the posters might look like

What a good question, and odd if I may say so, coming from you..
But to answer-yes I do picture everyone here, how they look. Some posters have alot of beauty and poetry with the way they post, some just seem very real and some have alot of anger in their post, and then you have those who seem like they cannot stay set in an opinion or thought. But I've put a face to just about everyone here.
I think it would be very interesting to see how everyone "really" looks here at ATS. Maybe we could put together an ATS convention somewhere lol! Can you just imagine all of us in one room? Wow! that would be incredible-to say the least!!

I do agree, I sort of have "images" of others as I read thier posts.

However, I get a feeling that "What do you think of me" would be a very loaded question...

I like the idea of an ATS convention, unfortunatly i dont think it would work, half of us are younger and therefore poor lol
