Wow, 65% eh? My husband served twenty years as an enlisted man, he does not recieve that much. What he does recieve, is not that much more than minimum wage. We pay more than you for medical care, and our drug copayments start at 9$, sounds like a good thing for you. By the way, my husband's knees are shot, from physical labor. Just curious, what physical labor does an officer do? Not saying you did not do any, I just never saw officers do physical labor when my husband served.

ummm, actually, some of those are swing states, not red states....not that I'm disagreeing with you, it's just that Kentucky is a swing state so the list isn't completely accurate.

Stereotype much?

You have no idea what you are talking about. I've NEVER heard any handout recipients complain about government spending. It's those of us remaining in the middle class who are frustrated.

I'm neither "lower class" or "super wealthy", as you put it; just SICK of the handout mentality. I don't want my hard-earned money handed out to career welfare recipients OR to million dollar corporations (like Solyndra--which is why it is so COMICAL to hear liberals bashing conservatives--can't you see that BOTH parties are doing the EXACT SAME THINGS????? BOTH sides have corruption issues and LOVE to back their buddies, while screaming about the "other side"'s evils.)

Most of the people in the "red states" who vote Republican are sick of ALL of the crap, including being fed up with most of the republican politicians. I will hold my nose and vote Romney in the fall as the lesser of 2 evils, although I wish Ron Paul was an option. I would vote for him joyfully, as she shares my ideas about what the function of the federal government should be. Which, by the way, are the same ideas that the framers of the Constitution had.

Personally have to question the intellect of anyone who blindly votes for Obama and the Democrats. But then again, I am a red state "DUMMY", according to you.

That's ok, my vote will cancel yours out

Swing states only last for 4 years, they are decided every presidential election. Kentucky voted for McCain/Palin last election therefore is red.

It also has the majority for Romney this election

But since it changes each election, it's clearly a swing state. I know it was MAJORLY supportive of Clinton...and would be for Hillary as well. My home county went Obama and most of the surrounding counties did as well.

That's not what a swing state is. A swing state is decided each election.

In United States presidential politics, a swing state (also, battleground state or purple state) is a state in which no single candidate or party has overwhelming support in securing that state's electoral college votes. Such states are targets of both major political parties in presidential elections, since winning these states is the best opportunity for a party to gain electoral votes. Non-swing states are sometimes called safe states, because one candidate has strong enough support that he or she can safely assume that he or she will win the state's votes.

I thought a swing state was what you were saying for the longest time though.

The list in the OP is correct

Are you sh*tting me? Obviously you do not live in New Mexico. It looks like OLD Mexico here. Nothing but welfare-drawing Mexicans and Natives. And the state house? We do have a Republican Governor, but do you know why? Because she's a Hispanic woman, that's why. If she were white, she wouldn't have had a chance in hell. The state legislature is as left-leaning as they come, and there is unabashed racism toward the governor coming from one of them - a black woman of all people.

This state government is corrupt through and through, but getting a little less so. A few hispanic families have run things here for a very long time. Nepotism is the rule. The old boy's network is strong, and that network is democrat.

So propagandize all you want, it ain't flying here. You know nothing about New Mexico. This is a blue state, unfortunately.

Actually, I am a retired officer from the Army. I get 62.5% of the average salary of the last 36 months of service. I earned that. It comes with retiree medical and dental at a nominal fee. A laughable fee relative to what the general population pays. I pay 35.00 a month for the whole family, 5.00 co-pay on meds and I think 90.00 a month for dental.

However, without the actual wounds received I'd still be eligible based on some certain medical diagnoses around 60-70% VA disability. I refuse to do so. I am almost 50 now - my back/neck hurts because of what I did for a living in Special Forces - but the retiree medical covers it all anyway. Besides, what man who did hard physical labor for 24+ years doesn’t have some back pain…

I feel like applying for and taking extra money from VA - it would be about 11-1250.00 extra a month in tax free income with some other preferences for jobs etc. would be IMO just plundering the treasury more than necessary.

I am an entrepreneur and don't need a job preference I already qualified for VA small business loan with a good solid plan. And while an extra 1k a month or so would be nice (and would come in handy) the 4k I already make (retired O4) just for getting out of bed every day in addition to my business earnings is a lot more than most in America have. I own 140 acres free and clear – I’m all set.

I guess if needed it I'd apply but I don't so I just let it ride. Not everyone who can milks the treasury.

Just out of curiousity...I take it then you feel union worker's are also entitled to their pensions, benefits, and welfare as well, right?

I have to agree with you on these points. I have noticed many of the same things, and I just shake my head. I listen to republicans rant and I just feel sorry for them now. I don't even want to argue with them, because I know that since they were brainwashed into becoming republicans in the first place, they will not listen to reason, even if I can prove them wrong.

Having done research you would have seen that Alaska should be an exception to the rule.....it is in no way comparable to the rest of those states due to location, and the demographic of the peoples location within the state that need, not leach, welfare to survive.

Here's a hint only 2% of the state is developed, and you might have 3000 miles of paved road. Everywhere else you boat or fly to a tiny speck on the map to something that has less than 500 people most times....where there is zero economy. Its the biggest state in the union with less population than anyone else.

Because of the feds hand in BIA affairs it keeps these people locked to where they are and on the dole. Not by choice however, but by necessity. The numbers don't fit the conditions
