To prevent the spread of communism which collapsed under its own weight?

You can also thank the wonderful green socialist environmentalists and Congressmen in Washington who killed off American business with regulations(which somehow China does not have to comply with). That way they can wipe their hands clean of the mess of industry here in the States while letting China get clean away with polluting and they can still take advantage of the product we buy off Chinese. They also can conveniently rage against Chinese sweat shops in the name of hating corporations. I have yet to see one of these people throw away their private jets and their computers.

Actually nixie passing "common sense" gun control and registration laws is one thing Hitler Mao Lenin Pol Pot and a string of others have in common.

Basically if you can show me a repressive regime I can show you a place where civilian gun ownership is forbidden or exceedingly difficult to obtain.

This is a KNOWN fact it's not speculation it's not NRA propaganda.... the people that post the propaganda are people like the Brady Campaign.... who have been caught lying and twisting the truth outright more than once. The NRA leads with FACTS.... while I might not agree with everything the NRA says and does at least they aren't liars.

The people who take the second amendment too seriously wish they can get access to bazookas, tanks, heck even airplanes. The military exists for a reason. If you don't like the government then excercise your right via voting. Vote for the libertarian party, spusa, cpusa, green party, progressive party, constitution party, etc.

There are ENOUGH AVENUES to peacefully and intelligently change the government without the need to walk around half-cocked all the time. I hate extremism of any kind, especially "the right kind".

What exactly is too seriously? That our Founding Fathers thought enough of it to put it in the Bill of Rights? That having guns and a militia was what allowed them to fight the Revolutoin and win? By the way, back around 2000, someone campaigning for 3rd district in my city told me that Democrats were trying to disarm the civilians and revise history to eliminate as much understanding of the Revolutionary War and why it was fought so that the younger generations won't understand how important and vital it was, and how vital the Constitution is. Next time you hear a politician whining about the Constitution just being a piece of paper, you better know they plan on robbing you of your Constitutional rights.

The problem is you don't understand at all what you attempt to criticise and end up misinforming people. All one has to do is examine the economic system in place to see everything is still privately owned and thus capitalist.

To have socialism the workers need to own the means of production. Do you see workers owning the means of production? Unions don't count in the equation, because they merely act as arbitrators between employee and employer.

You have no desire to learn anything because I have given you many clues and sources and you just call me names.

To put it bluntly Gun control is using both hands....

Does this mean I think everyone should own machine guns.... .NO it doesn't

Does this mean I think most everyone should have access to militarily useful equipment ... .Yes absolutely this is what the second amendment exists to guarantee.

The second amendment is not about sporting purposes or shooting for fun it's about guaranteeing an armed populace for the national defense. No matter how much people like you want to try and twist the words to mean this isn't the case that's what it's there to do.

Since this is the case yes I advocate that militarily useful weapons should be available to the american public especially if they are willing to fill out an ATF form 4 form and meet all the legal requirements implied by the ability to get a form 4 firearm. This is not the equivalent of arming every tom dick and harry with grenades and rocket launchers. What it is is a carefully weighted policy to guarantee responsible adults access to equipment if they're willing to go through the legal paperwork and systems already in place.

And for the record I believe all of this even though it means I myself will never be able to own said kit due to youthful indiscretions. I am Ok with this as long as there is a mechanism for the right people to be able to own militarily useful equipment.

So take your rhetoric somewhere else I'm far from an extremist what I am is a realist who has looked into the constitution and the associated literature of the time period and feels we should honor the INTENT of the constitution not play word games to change things we don't like or feel are inconvenient.

At the end of the day our nation is not weakened by legal machine gun owners in any way. So how people can consider it a bad thing is beyond me. I mean for the love of pete in the 80 years of machine gun law being what it is currently there's been a whopping 2 COUNT THEM 2 murders with legally registered machine guns and one of those was a cop doing the killing.

But hey chances are you didn't even know machine guns were legal in the US currently .... that's how much effect they have on the country.... unless you seek out the knowledge you could go your whole life without ever seeing, hearing, or being affected by a legal machine gun in any way.


Edit to ADD: I bet you I can find more murders committed with barbecue utensils in the last 80 years than murders committed with legally registered machine guns. Yet people like you want to get rid of something that's not causing problems and is supposed to be guaranteed by our constitution..... And you call ME the extremist....

You ought to try studying the strategy of Fabian socialism to see exactly how it is being employed by the DSA within the Democrat Party. Next you can listen to the words of Lenin to see that he knew that Marxist principle is that socialism is a bridge to the more dramatic communism.
Next you can admit that Universal health care and Universal pre k are both socialist programs based on Marxist redistributionist theories.
