Romney is going to get the nomination. He got roughly 45% of the GOP vote in the primaries thus far, he stands well ahead in delegates. Is this what the tea parties really wanted in the end? Another establishment candidate?

Romney stated that he'd like his vice president to be more like Cheney, Cheney is raising money for him:
blogs.wsj.com...

Romney is no stranger to politics, he is the textbooks definition of establishment and we all know this. Romney was lockstep with the Bush administration over the years, has deep connections to the GOP elite, if elected, he would be one of the wealthiest presidents in US history. What's more, he is a moderate in the eyes of most tea partiers.

Any tea partiers out there? Are you satisfied with Romney as your nominee? Did you vote for him? Or is Romney just a temparory compromise until he assumes office?

I can understand why Romney is willing to praise Cheney, why he is willing to get close with Trump, Romney needs all the support he can get. Obama will come into the elections with plenty of money, and Romney will need to match this if he intends to win the nomination. It's just a question of, why him? What happened to changing the establishment in the GOP? To me, it's almost as if people took off their tea party hats in the GOP primaries and just voted for who they were told.

Anybody is better than Obama, and though I'm not big on Romney, atleast
It's not John McCain this time....I think more people will vote on the premises that it's him or Obama and so they'll get behind Ronney and hope for the best....

Republicans have spent 4 years utterly freaking out over Obama

Then when it came time to pick an opponent they chose the Republican that most resembles him.

Forget complaining about two-party politics, every election it's looking more and more like a one-party system

Sometimes it feels like we are all living in the Star Wars prequels.

We are not seeing past our own noses collectively and seeing the picture that's being painted by the gov't. When I was a child and was going through picture books, I'd swear they used Romney's picture under the word "politician", because he seems to me to be the prototype.

Yet another election will go by where the obvious popular candidate loses to an establishment puppet, and with every year that passes, we move closer and closer to establishing the Galactic Empire.

This is what I believe pushed Romney to win. Romney may be an establishment candidate, one that tea partiers promised to rid of in the GOP, but the level of hatred towards Obama outweighs principals in the end. I have no doubt that Romney will get the tea party vote easily, but looking back at the tea party protests in 2009, it almost appears as if GOP voters have done a complete 360 back to the Bush years.

In anycase I do believe Romney is the best candidate that the GOP could produce out of what they had to office. He is the only one that can match Obama in spending, he is the most moderate out of the lot so he has the most appeal to independents and he has the connections to Washington. If it was Ron Paul or Gingrich I think they'd have a far lesser chance against Obama. In anycase I'm just amused at how what was supposed to be a grassroots movement to 'purify' the GOP turned out in end to work in favour of the establishment. Not surprised though.

The Tea Party was a marketing campaign, a "rebranding" effort

If you will. It was a way for the GOP and American Conservatism

To bypass scrutiny and real reform. Instead of analizing the

Process and policies which brought on the economic doom,

The Tea Party served as a distraction and a way for conservatives to

Hide from the demons they unleashed. As you know, this group

Did not clean house, they simply placed the focus on Obama

And began a very long and well disaplined attempt to stir

Up hatred and distrust towards Obama, progressives and the

Like. They thought up the socialism boogeyman to replace

Terrorism for the time being. All of this was used to motive

Conservatives and bounce back after a truly historical failure.

The Tea Party was jump a psychological refuge from the

"GOP" who was marred by the disaster in 2008. A convict

Can put on a police uniform and fool many people, but the

Uniform does not change the character under it.

I think you should vote for Obama and not reward these

Bad fish who have waged a very effective war of rhetoric.

He is much better and more centrist than these imposters

Claim.

Romney is not my first choice.

That being said, I like his business record. He has smarts and has a track record of business success.

Yes, he was with a business that bought companies... cut the hell out of waste and departments and emplyees tp produce success and profit.

But is'nt that what we want Romney to do to the US Government?

If he does to the Fed Goverment what he did to some businesses that Bain bought, he will cut departments... budgets...Fed workers will be unemployed... and a balanced budget will result.

Isn't that what we need?

Well it's going to be either him or Obama, GOP voters chose Romney. You could write your first choice in come election day, this is what I'm going, but reality dictates that one of those two will win.

Then you should keep up with what he says if you are going to support him

Romney: Spending cuts slow economic growth

"If you just cut, if all you're thinking about doing is cutting spending, as you cut spending you'll slow down the economy," he said.

So up until yesterday, Romney's argument was that cutting spending would, in and of itself, generate economic growth because it would free up resources for private investment. Now he says cutting spending would reduce economic growth because it would reduce demand. Those are two very different economic theories, and I'll bet you he doesn't even know why he decided to switch sides. But I'll guarantee you that by tonight, he'll have switched back.

This is so wrong on so many levels. Voting to get Obama out without considering who you are voting in is the pinnacle of idiocy; it's this kind of thinking that got us Obama in the first place.

I honestly think Romney would be a much worse president than Obama.
He's promised to start a war, he flip-flops to appease his audience, he has a very elitist personality. Is this really someone you want as president? He's going to sell us out on a much larger scale than Obama ever will.

Come 2016 I'm sure we'll see the same imbecilic rhetoric...

If its wrong our right doesnt matter the current environment you could run a ham sandwich against Obama and it would win.I think people really dont like being duped and he diffinately miss represented himself the first time.Romney i cant decide now if were looking for a president to balance the books so to speak hes probably the best choice. However if you have other motivations hes kind of a one trick pony.

I do not like Romney as well as I like some of the people I wish had run... ie Christy. And I sure as Hell do not like Obama... didn't like him the first time I listened to him and did some research into his views.

That being said...we live in a democratic republic. Somebody with a majority likes Obama and somebody likes Romney... I like Paul, but not enough support from the masses.

I preach majority rulles, and I preach the free market chooses.... it is a two edge sword and the masses have chosen. As such, i voiced my opinion... I cast my votes... and after a dwindling down process... this is what we have. Like it or not...

So now, to put it in folksy terms..." I can play or take my little red wagon and go play some where else."

Indeed, it is ironic, that they would place their bets on Romney.
His actions in the private sector, like Obama's actions in the public sector mirror each other.

They both talk the talk in order to divide and conquer, but their actions are 180 degrees off of what their actions entail.

Obama, the man of Hope and Change and ending corruption on Wall Street and Government, was all lies, while his actions have only consisted of propping up the same entities he was voted in to end.

Romney will continue to do the same, which is Big Government, Bigger Wars, Big Wall Street, and more taxes from my pockets to fund it all. Taxed enough already am I? Yep, but nothing will change.

I don't think so... I feel that putting people out of work right now

Is still putting people out of work, literally. Those people might hit

The roles of welfare and the simple fact is their pay checks will stop

Contributing to local businesses, much like what happens when a military

Base shuts down. I also think Romney will focus TOO much

On the investor class and I think our economy is more than

Just that small portion of people. What's good for main street

Might not always be what's right more Wall Street. I think

Wall Street gets far too much attention as it is by congress,

Wall Street does not need another super yes man and

Obama has been a very steady hand if anything.

I respectfully disagree. I am an ardent Obama detractor, but Romney is not better than Obama. He's the same. If elected, he will continue Obama's blood- and gore-fest in the Middle East, bombing the crap out of civilians for their oil. He will continue Obama's buddy-buddy friendship with Big Oil, Big Pharma, and insurance companies. He will follow with Obama's friendship with banks and investment houses. He will be Obama 2.0.

SG: good post. But I don't think the TEA Party "chose" Romney. Yeah, they ended up with him (I'm not a TEA Partier, BTW), but Romney was chosen by the political elite in the RNC. Not like it matters...Obama will win again in 2012.

many tea party people are upset with Romney for various reasons but in reality he is the only person who actually has a plan that can pass congress and yes it may be somewhat lax on the passionate conservative side, but being a centrist. I understand where he is coming from. He's getting all of his ideas out there now, for people to think about and maybe just maybe they will get over their ideology and come to their senses and realize that yeah. Romney's plans are the only ones that can work in this polarized world. We cannot elect a Sarah Palin or a Rick Santorum after a guy so far left like Obama.

I also think that's another reason, why Romney does not seem as conservative as he actually is. Obama and the entire country has moved from the center to the left. You can see it all around you! The GOP and the tea party are considered jokes to the general public. I am fed up with that, so I'll give Romney a chance.
