Cambridge University researchers find that a microprocessor used by the US military but made in China contains secret remote access capability
A microchip used by the US military and manufactured in China contains a secret "backdoor" that means it can be shut off or reprogrammed without the user knowing, according to researchers at Cambridge University's Computing Laboratory.

The unnamed chip, which the researchers claim is widely used in military and industrial applications, is "wide open to intellectual property theft, fraud and reverse engineering of the design to allow the introdu

If people would stop being lazy and actually take the time to cite the original sources, this wouldnt happen.

Informationage.com cite
THIS page.

And that page, a simple blog type update from the article author, links to the actual research paper which certainly indeed names the chip in question.

So 4 years on and the situation is still pretty much the same, the recent drone event in Iran was an interesting wake up call. Personally I am finding all these secrets are becoming too detrimental anyway as the vicious circles of lies have too many people chasing their tail instead of getting on with more productive endeavours. Personally I am glad that the US is no longer invincible as it not has been using its gifts in the most wisest of manners.

For example all this talk of war with China and they are the enemy is pure madness, both nations have enough nukes to exterminate life on this planet, wake up and shake hands or we are all dead.

Surely this would remove the problem? Or at least order directly from assembly plants (in the US, preferably monitored), thereby cutting out any suspicious links in the chain?

because that would be cost efficient and secure and we all know that the US gov't is neither cost efficient nor secure.

Iran did not hack the RQ-170. It has been established many times.

And there was very visible damage to the bottom of the aircraft, and the wings have been torn off. Don't know where you got that there were no scratches.
