Sen. Murray: Lawmakers ‘weren’t prepared’ to deal with veterans’ issues

Let me try to understand this.

First: Senator Patty Murray, (D-Wash), is the chairwoman of the Senate Veterans' Affairs committee.

Second: Senator Murray has been an elected U.S. Senator since January 1993.

Third: The U.S. has been involved in wars and conflicts for most (if not all) of her entire Senate career.

Fourth: Where has SHE been for the last 20 years ??

She is saying:

“We weren’t prepared for a war that’s lasted this long with that many soldiers who had repeated deployments,” said Murray on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Murray said she feared Congress had failed to appreciate the resources that would need to be directed to care for veterans from over a decade of conflict.

“This is a question our country needs to come to grips with,” she said. “This is not just going to be what do we next year or what do we need as we pull our soldiers from Iraq.

WHAT ??

I smell the "Obama Campaign" !!

Willfull stupidity, ignorance and lies should be made treasonous.

When the people who are trusted with the burden of responsibility admit that they are stupid, they should be quickly removed from any kind of power and tried for extreme incompetence.

Of course they had no clue! They ignored that last 10 year war because they also ignored those men and women!
Their heads have been planted firmly in their own posteriors and they also always ignore everything that doesn't concern them in their own little cocoon of DC!

I could not have ever said it better than you did, friend. I think the ones responsible for this fiasco should be forced to pony up and pay for everything concerning Veteran's Benefits and Medical Care.

Just like how they will say they were ill prepared for the coming debt crisis and entitlement bust.

Politics is the only occupation you can admit to being ignorant and still retain employment.

Lawmakers ‘weren’t prepared’ to deal with veterans’ issues ??,

Of course they weren't prepared I mean come of most of those politicians have been there through every single act of foreign policies decision making since the Vietnam war. They were well aware of veteran issues since they have been the ones making the laws, and funding those benefits since that time.

As usual the government claims to be victims of their own incompetence and as usual those people who stood up to the task to be done are left blowing in the wind.

Same ole crap different day, different, year, different decade.

Yeah well they certainly had expierence just ask Senator John Kerry and others.

Yeah - there is a lot of stuff they know coming and don't do deal with and then act surprised and shocked when it gets here.

However, this is one of the most shameful cases of it.

Murray acknowledged that there were still many problems including the long waits many veterans experience before being approved for benefits. But she said many of these issues arose because of the complicated injuries brought about by modern warfare.

This boils down to the government giving those who put life and limb on the line, the BIG middle finger!
This is one issue that is proof of their arrogant attitudes to the very people they have fight their wars, to make some power for their criminal buddies. All these wars are well prepared for in all senses. The only thing you can not for see in battle in the Fog of War. But policy is not something that should be missed, how long have we been fighting other forces in the world? Give me a break.

And yet good people everyday suffer, and go through this process that makes them feel even worse. Can they be any more blunt with you people? They don't give a s#it about you! They don't care about you. Thankfully there are people out here that do care, and with any hope that will come to pass.

Why is it up to the private funding raising of the people that normally does the most good for Vets and their families? The government bails out so much stuff in the past. Yet Vets, and 911 first responders are put through this absolutely insulting process.
