A close interaction between politicians and the press is inevitable, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has told the Leveson Inquiry.

Mr Blair told the inquiry that at its best British journalism was the best in the world. But he said the use of newspapers as instruments of political power created a relationship that was "unhealthy".

At one point a protester had to be ejected after getting into the court and calling Mr Blair a "war criminal".

Proceedings were interrupted for around 20 seconds before the man was escorted away

Very brave of that man to stand up and speak out straight to to the criminal Blair. Not sure why he was being escorted away, he should be given a medal for that.

Interesting. I wonder "why" they called him a "War Criminal"

Hmmm. Oh well! He's been called one of those since the day he started the wars/attacks etc.

Wow.

The thing I find strange is, why did Levinson apologise to Blair for the interruption ?

They all know Blair is a war criminal.
They should have all stood up and applauded the guy.

Then again, this is the courts of justice.

They just showed him being taken away in a police van, apparently he's a documentary film maker making a film about the Iraq war.

I guess the security was on a fag break.

Great to see Blair blush. The protester had a good grip on the situation.....sorry that's a bad joke. We will have to wait and see but Blair is most likely untouchable like his buddy Bush.

Bush and Blair need to be brought to justice for the destruction they have caused through their illegal wars.

It is ridiculous that people who rob to feed their families, or don't pay their council tax because they are broke get jailed, yet Bush and Blair get to live the high life after giving the order to kill millions of innocents. I personally don't see the difference between Hitler and Blair/Bush.

Until humanity holds those responsible for their actions...we'll always be looking at greater means of blowing ourselves up and killing our home!!!!

Well done Mr Protestor...you have my support!

Blair IS a criminal. One of many. All over the world.
It is the rule of the labour party why I left England ( not "Great Britain", "Great Britain" is just a comparison to "Little Britain" - Brittany, in France ) and went away to Eastern Europe, Far East, Asia, Pacific islands...
I love our little island. Love its weather. Love its people. England is Heaven. One just has to get used to it

I am an Englander. "British people" are Englanders. Not "British".

You won't find "Englander" describing us, inhabitants of England, anywhere on search engines. We are being eradicated.
Englanders, stay Englanders. Do not give in into being "British".
We are being wiped out. Slowly, but surely.
England, Englander.
Not British, Briton.

he apologised because he is a judge, and is responsible for the proceedings, i would have done the same in his position. This enquiry is not into the iraq war, and while i find the man's statement 'you recieved 6 million every year from jp morgan since the war' (paraphrased) very interesting, this is about blair's relationship to the murdoch press and it is very good to see these things becoming public after people have been talking about it for decades. Just to clarify, i support the protester but the judge has a job to do and the outburst was a distraction from it. very funny though...

He didn't deny the payments, he only denied having a discussion, and thats probably true, it would have been done via middle men.

that is a very good point, i picked up on that as well. if i were blair i'd have denied the payments not the conversation. Maybe he wanted to swiftly avoid the issue?

This is disgusting....more American Police bullies at work. The guy only asked a question????? Where's the freedom of speech? Law Enforcers have alot to answer for globally but in a country that represents/preaches democracy.......lead by example and all that ......pffff! One of the officers is aiming his gun at the non violent question asker.

for me it's up to the mindless idiots watching it all happen to do some thing. They have the right to do that. Is it fear that prevents them from stopping it? because the police are very outnumbered here. i'd have said "if you're arresting him you have to arrest me to", because they have to actually charge you with something. i'd have taken badge numbers and contacted their senior officers, if no response then write well worded letters to the press. The officer making the arrest is clearly in the wrong and she may well have been disciplined for it... makes me angry, i hate the police (can't help it), but it's up to fellow citizens to uphold the law if somebody is being attacked...

I totally agree someone could have helped or piped up but they are all obviously afraid of sticking their neck's out or simply disagree with the arrestee. I wouldn't have put it past that nervous runt of a cop with the gun to fire a few shots at anyone else who got involved.

Slow down chief, we aren't all Englanders as you like to put it, you are missing out 3 other countries in your little rant...there are also Scotlanders, Northern Islanders and Wale"rs". All 4 nations are loosing their identity which is why i heard my Dad (67) say yesterday...

"For the first time in my life i will give up my vote for the Conservatives and give it to UKIP instead". He says there is NO point in voting for Labour or Conservatives, neither are willing to sort the root of the issue, stop having a free border".

I aptly replied back...

"Dad, that's why my vote has gone for the SNP, the same reasons you have, too many foreigners and a loss of identity, except i want to try and live free of Westminster's policy's on the Economy, Foreign Affairs and Immigration/Europe".
