BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari will recall another 56 vehicles imported to the Chinese mainland due to defective crankshafts, China's quality watchdog said Friday.

Ferrari offered to replace the defective parts for free. Last year, Ferrari recalled 56 vehicles, including 37 Quattroporte models and 19 GranTurismo models produced between July 3, 2008 and September 30, 2011, due to a faulty track bar.

Apparently corruption by government officials has it's benefits.

"Does your image of China include Ferraris?"

Yes, the rich Chinese like their fancy expensive cars and houses.

Not sure what you mean by the corrupt government, I don't think they have anything to do with faulty Ferraris

Hints;

The most common image of China is rice paddies. Sorry but it just ain't so any more.

Official corruption is rampant and flagrant producing those who can afford a Ferrari. IMO worse than our congress.

Maybe it is just me but i am failing to see what your point is? I didn't see anything in the article about who owned these cars so i am also not sure how you have come up with the idea that these cars were bought through wealth earned through government corruption.

anyhow, I would agree, The Chinese government is corrupt, very much so, though that is hardly news. So anyhow, maybe you can enlighten me here... What is your point? What are you trying to say and what exactly are you basing it off of?

Lol are you serious? Yea we all think of China as having very poor areas sure, but they also have a huge number of millionaires as well, They have plenty of insanely rich groups and industries as well. I think most people think of China as an economic powerhouse who probably have plenty of expensive sports cars throughout the country. I find it really odd that anyone would be so blind to think of China of being simply full of rice paddies.

Btw why is Vlad Tepes your profile picture thing? Lol!? Or am I mistaken?

What do you mean anymore? Sounds like you have only just realised that China is actually a massive nation who have had substantial wealth for thousands of years.

And also why must someone be corrupt to own an expensive sports car? Do you seriously think all successful businessmen in China are corrupt? Believe it or not it is possible to become wealthy using nothing but, intelligence and good hard work, even luck a lot of the time. This is applicable to all countries, not just China. A country that has such a large population is going to have plenty of rich people, it already has plenty of potential customers and Industry is booming there and has been for decades. Sounds like you arn't really in touch with what goes on outside of your country at all...

Vlad is my hero! He saved Christianity in Europe by repelling the Turks and did so without an army. He impaled 20,000 along the main road to his domain. That strengthened his domain whereas military losses, even if victorious, would have weakened it. Brilliant! Maybe I will post something on him. Care to suggest a forum?

Excuse me but in my social circles (seniors) the view of China is very out of date. ATS members have a much more up to date view. My daughter in law's brother spent a year there (about 8 years ago) teaching them to pronounce English. They could read and write it but had no idea how to speak the words. He had some interesting stories, views and opinions which I should post someday.

Ok that explains a lot. So your hero is a mass murderer who took pleasure in torturing and killing not just soldiers, but civilians, women and children? I am a big fan of military history and there is no doubt he was a master of using fear in lieu of an actual superior military force, but he was still a terrible person who did not save Christianity, he harmed it by being associated with it. Anyone who says that Vlad is their hero is either a complete sicko or a total moron. (Sorry I don't like making personal attacks, but it's sad that you would choose a hero who was known for doing so many unspeakably evil things) Why not admire a strong figure in military history who was also honourable ey? Vlad was smart in many ways, but a total fool in many others as well so looking up to him doesn't really make sense, unless you are the kind of person who takes pleasure in torturing and killing small animals.

ATS members usually are more clued up, but the average person knows that China is a country full of wealth as well as poverty. This is common knowledge for most people, I mean who doesn't know that China is one of the richest countries on the earth? So guess what? Rich countries have rich citizens who then can buy expensive things! I'm guessing your group of friends are just not aware of the world around them because even the average person on the street with little interest in global news is aware that Chine is such a powerful country.

I would suggest finding another website, unless you are willing to write about Vlad in a way that condemns him for everything he did. Talking about him as your hero will not win you friends on any site with sane people and frankly makes you seem like either an immature kid who isn't capable of understanding why these things arn't cool or someone who will go on to commit a string of murders of people and first probably defenceless animals. Both are things that ATS will not warmly welcome you for.

Sorry if I offended you.

I see you have the stereotypical view of Vlad. OK, most share that view.

Vlad was indeed brutal but so were others. He did not invent impaling. The Turks and Europeans used it.

His domain was the first line of defense for Christian Europe. Had he failed to stop the Turks the door was open. He was absolved by the Pope, allowed to revoke vows and treaties of non aggression with the Turks.

He spent years being raised in the Turkish court with the prince who would ultimately lead the invasion. He knew his mindset. He had a tough decision, 'cull the flock' and remain strong or lose many of your best young producers in battle and weaken your domain for a generation. He clearly did what was best for the future of his domain and the domains of the nobility to whom he was a vassal.

Vlad was a true gift from God to save Christianity.

To this day he is a 'hero' in Romania.

I remain a sicko, a damn proud sicko.

PS You know of course that that wicked Queen of England (UK) Elizabeth is descended from Vlad.

This all seems a bit harsh. I don't feel oghamxx was really very deserving of that diatribe. Honestly, you can express your disapproval of an opinion without being so incredibly insulting I am sure.

If you are going to judge someone on an opinion and claim the moral high ground it might be to your benefit to not sink so low with your attacks. Just my thoughts.

So what was your point about Chinese corruption? Do you think that business in china is all dodgy and corrupt then?

So what if he didn't invent it? Does that mean that it makes it ok as long as he didn't come up with the method? Yes many of histories military minds were totally evil. He may have stopped invasions, but all the suffering he caused was not justified at all. His own people lived in such fear of him and he was worse than the invading armies. He didn't save his nation, he terrorised it and a lot of the time it was for his own sick pleasure and not for any real reason, or if it was it was just a load of rubbish. Vlad was the most un-Christian person you could think of throughout history. He was a complete hypocrite who did not posses the most basic Christian morals and it's no wonder that in the end he died most ungloriously. His domain was better of without him and I think most of the population would rather have taken their chances with the foreign marauding armies who threatened to invade rather than live another day under his rule.

Stereotypical view? What you mean I don't like evil torture murderers?

I am sure you are very young and have little idea of what you are talking about. If you had witnessed a person being murdered in real life (which I am unfortunate enough to have witnessed) you would understand. Killing someone isn't like call of duty. If you want to go anywhere in life I suggest you re-evaluate your views because you will end up a very lonely person. The reason your friends no so little about the world around them is probably because there are only a couple of friends that you have and they probably spend all day watching pornography and execution videos online, the fact that you have the view on China that you do just shows your lack of maturity an intellect..

And all that from someone who bows to a descendant of Vlad. Amazing.

I have visited the UK about 12 times since 1985, (4 times to Glastonbury) all on holiday and have found Brits to be quite open to having their misconceptions of history (American) dispelled. In your case I will paraphrase Attila the Hun, All Brits have value even if only to serve as a bad example.

You have read your history of Vlad and I have read mine. Isn't this a great world!

I appreciate you point of view, but it really offends me when people think so highly of those who murder, let alone those who torture and murder innocents on such a massive scale. It also offends me when people have such a small minded view of other countries and in this case for example describe China as just being full of rice paddies. If the OP was just genuinely ignorant of China as a country then I would not have been so harsh, however I believe that the OP is not that unintelligible and simply was being offensive to China as a country in this case as he believes that they as a people are somehow not as capable and are inferior.

If you look up Vlad Tepes as well and then see exactly who the OP declares as a hero and as someone who helped save Christianity then your opinion may change dramatically on the matter. My main gripe tbh was that the OP seems to think that all the horrors in the world that we as human beings are most ashamed of should actually be celebrated. That right there is what offended me so much. Apologies, but sometmes I am unable to mask my disgust as I am just a person and I have flaws myself.

Sorry but it seems that your belief that what he did to his own people/invading armies/outsiders/non - Christians in a way parallels how you seem to see this Chinese as an inferior country and people. can I ask are you a Christian yourself? Because by your own admission Vlad broke many commandments himself so how didhe save Christianity by disregarding it's core beliefs?

You seem to stereotype people a lot. Believe it or not not everyone who belongs to a certain country or religion etc thinks and acts exactly the same. Who is this person that I bow down to? Sorry to break it to you, but I don't bow down to anyone.

Yes but you seem to agree with the history that I am mentioning. For example the forest of impaled people. You don't argue that it never happened and that is one example I am using of how awful a human being he was, yet you claim that I have read a different version of history than you? Now that doesn't make much sense. Our disagreement comes from a moral perspective as you agree with his brutality and I disagree so it has nothing to do with me and you having different view of what history is actually true. If you are arguing this then please provide examples of what you think I have wrong instead of making vague claims.

The main point I made is that he used totally immoral and evil methods so his associated with Christianity has harmed the religion, especially now where many argue that the religion is used for war mongering. You seem to think that what he did was justified, so we are agreeing on history and disagreeing on if what he did was right or wrong. At least understand what it is that you are arguing.

Had he drawn and quartered people as was common in England would you feel better. Reality bites!

And where did I indicate that I thought China was nothing but rice paddies. I said there is that misconception in my (and other?) social circle of SENIORS, Surely not among you and your like. About seniors, do you want to reconsider your claim that I am a kid? My son is age 45, care to guess my age. And yes I have few friends as they have all passed. So grasshopper I have been aware of China's progress since Kissinger went there in 1971 and blew in the right ears. In 1995 I bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for about $35,000. Shortly thereafter I read that in China they sell for $65,000 and there is a 2 year wait. They were assembled there for the Chinese market but it was a screwdriver assembly of mostly imported parts, but China was proud that they made the steering wheel!

So how would YOU have repelled the Turks, sacrificed how many thousands of your best young men, weakened you country for a generation making it and the rest of Europe vulnerable to yet another invasion. DO TELL!!!

I celebrate nothing but the saving of Christianity. Read some history but I suggest stay out of Romania with your warped beliefs.

You are probably one of the many fools, (I met a few in college in the 60's and many more in London, Bath, Bristol, Street, Boscastle, Tintagle, Exeter.....) who insists that you would have won WW2 even if the USA had not joined. Not even Monty Python would use that, it is beyond comic.

So go bow down to your queen, a descendant of many mass murderers including Vlad.

I am indeed a Christian and Vlad had the tacit approval if not the blessing of the Pope. His conduct was insignificant compared to the Inquisition.

Why am I AGAIN casting pearls before swine.

I`m sure it`s only on imports.

As for this thread
I was just watching some China driving vids last night on youtube. And I wouldn`t want a nice car there let alone be on one of those scooters. They can`t drive and I`m not so sure they care what they hit half the time. It`s like watching blind people drive right over eachother.
