I wonder what are the motives behind these killings? The stories also dont mention anything about how much he had drank that night when he walked out of the pub. Possible blackout from alcohol?

On the outside he seemed to be a typical young man who played airsoft, Battlefield and also he was a good athlete and had normal friends and no criminal history. Lets hope the thing solves. Sad day in Finland again.....

He was targetting players from a baseball team.

More numerology "coincidence"

7 (significant in itself) +2 =9

so 7 and 9 are both represented in this potential "ritual"

Bit of misinfo here. Wasn't targeting anyone specific. He shot around randomly. He had 3 guns. .22 and a large caliber hunting rifle. No shotgun. 3rd victim, a female police officer is in critical condition and has undergone several surgeries and remains in ICU.

I believe the evidence shows this shooting was another covert act. Apparently the government has not been quick enough in passing new gun control laws in the wake of the previous Finnish school shootings in Tuusula and Kauhajoki.

-----------

5-26-12
Hyvinkää, Finland Eero Samuli Hiltunen, 18 2 dead, 7 more young people wounded, including a seriously injured 23-year-old police officer.

A young man dressed in military fatigues began shooting with a rifle from the roof of a building in the city centre at 1:53am Saturday morning. He had two rifles--a .22-caliber rifle and a .308-caliber scoped bolt-action hunting rifle--which he reportedly stole out of a relative's locked weapons cabinet. The suspect was detained at 7:45am, reportedly at a rubbish dump not far from town. He had a third weapon with him at the time.

yle.fi...
"It looks like he shot people on the street at random," said Ihaksinen.

The profile of the manipulated shooting event:

Special weapons:

www.hs.fi...ää+shootings+Gunman+shows+remorse+policewoman+still+not+out+of+danger/1329104221628
Police have stated that the man in custody initially opened fire with a small-calibre rifle that was equipped with a silencer, firing 10-20 shots from a rooftop position....

Other shooters:

yle.fi...
Police say that there was only a single shooter, but it is possible that there may have been other people involved in the incident.

www.hs.fi...ää/1329104214278
The man has broadly admitted his actions, but police are still exploring the possibility that he may have had accomplices, for example to assist him in his flight from the scene. A scooter and a blue Toyota Hiace van may also have been involved in some way.

edition.cnn.com...
Regional chief inspector Markku Tuominen told MTV3: "It is possible that there are more people involved in the case."

Lack of motive:

yle.fi...
Mika Ihaksinen of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), said on Saturday afternoon that it was too early to speculate about the gunman's possible motive. (In other words, the suspect himself has no idea.)

www.hs.fi...ää+shootings+Gunman+shows+remorse+policewoman+still+not+out+of+danger/1329104221628
The 18-year-old being held by police ... has shown remorse for his actions under questioning, and has indicated he understands the consequences of what he has done, but has been unable to give a reason for his opening fire on a group of people outside two restaurants in the town.
... He(the suspect) has also commented that he has not had earlier thoughts of shooting people, even previously on the day of the shooting itself.

ph.news.yahoo.com...
Chief inspector at the National Bureau of Investigation, Mika Ihaksinen: "In the interrogation he's totally incapable of explaining anything at all."

Political changes in the aftermath:

yle.fi...
"Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen ... believes that the shooting will give even more food for thought to a working group that is currently reviewing reforms to the nation's gun laws."

yle.fi...
In the wake of Saturday's fatal shootings, Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen indicated that upcoming changes to gun laws may include stricter rules about keeping firearms under lock and key.

www.helsinkitimes.fi...
Chairman of the Finnish Central Association for Mental Health Pekka Sauri points out that centralized storage of firearms would make acts such as that in Hyvinkää less likely to occur.“The best way by far to prevent these kinds of acts is to limit the availability of firearms and to supervise their storage,” Sauri says.

Previous history with the military:

www.hs.fi...
Police had earlier told the Finnish News Agency STT that the young man had entered the army at the beginning of the year and left before completing his stint. (The military later said he had been called up for service, but had not entered basic training)

Hows that special? A silenced .22? Very common weapon.

Other shooters:

Yeah it was possible. It was investigated. There might've been accomplish. Nothing like that has been reported thought.

Lack of motive:

Police said just on the 18th that the motive has been shed light on during questioning.

Political changes in the aftermath:

Nothing has changed here politically. Same talk we've had for a long time. Gun control laws have been worked on continously.

Previous history with the military:

All males are required to attend military here. So that's not much of a surprise.

Bunch of hyperbole

As this was a covert op, they would not report this fact even if they had good evidence for it.

Except the shooter was never inducted, according to the military. Why not? Did they have a 'special mission' for him?

Why is it that they then did it? Are you just making crap up?

Trial.

They've been coming for a long time now. Nothing new here.

He was granted delay for service. Very common amongst workers and students. You're just making # up.

At what age do you guys go into military training there?

It seemed to me that, given his age, he would be one of the males in finland that had not YET had a military history.

17-18 is the age one is called to service. They can then apply for delay if they have a valid reason.

"Why is it that they then did it(report evidence of other shooters)? Are you just making crap up?"

The real info comes out in the first hours after the crime has been committed, and before the cover-up has time to form.

"They've(new gun control laws) been coming for a long time now. Nothing new here."

And one day, coming soon, they will be there.

The military claims he was called up, but not inducted(just like Breivik in Norway). What was the reason? Why the secrecy behind it?

So your theory is that they planned this and had no plan to cover it up before it went down? That just makes no sense what so ever.

And one day, coming soon, they will be there.

Yeah. So what? We've known that for a long time now. Ever since the school shootings.

I dont know where you get your idea for secrecy? They've said all that has been asked in interviews. What secrecy?
Also being called up doesn't mean your service starts then and there. You first get medical and psychological tests and then apply for choice of service place. Then it can take months before the actual army starts.

They deliberately release the truth for a short period of time to let those 'in the know' what is going on.

The military has refused to say why the suspect wasn't inducted.

And when Eero Samuli Hiltunen scored high on the mind-manipulation vulnerability scale, he was selected for 'special' duty.

--------------------

www.hs.fi...
According to current police findings, based on multiple interviews with the suspect, it appears that Hiltunen only began to harbour ideas of the shootings some four hours before he opened fire on crowds outside two restaurants from a position on a rooftop in Hyvinkää.
"He has not been able to describe how he came to do this", reported senior investigating officer Mika Ihaksinen from the National Bureau of Investigation on Monday.
Ihaksinen said that the man's plans and the daily routine as described to his friends changed only some hours before the killings.

The kid goes from normal guy to homicidal maniac in just four hours. And no one has any idea why. It's like he was triggered.

They dont have cell phones? Email? This just gets more ridicilous by each post.

The military has refused to say why the suspect wasn't inducted.

Where's that? They've made their statement and it quite clearly says why he wasn't inducted.

...care to prove that? Or are you gonna admid that you're just making stuff up to fit your theory.

People snap all the time. Some snap in seconds. Police has said they know the motives behind the shooting from the questioning. It's like you're just making more stuff up.

"Where's that? They've made their statement and it quite clearly says why he wasn't inducted."

Or maybe not so quite clearly:
www.hs.fi...
The man had gone to a call-up event in Eastern Uusimaa. Karhuvaara did not specify if the man had been excused from service on some grounds. He stated he could say no more on the matter, as this is not public information.

People snap all the time. Some snap in seconds.

Nobody just 'snaps' for no reason at all.

Police has said they know the motives behind the shooting from the questioning.

Then perhaps you could enlighten us on what they know.

That's not clear indeed. Police say he had applied for a delay and gotten it. Wheter or not he had been excused isn't public information also.

Where are you getting the "no reason"? You made that up.
