I'm attempting to understand your mindset, if you would have stated George Washington and Abe Lincoln as the model dictators I would be inclined to agree with you, but you choose Hitler and Nazi Germany for your opening topic. This makes me think your advocating being a Nazi. Is it easy for you to dismiss the evil that hitler was? Show me evidence how hitler improved the world??

Another issue with dictators are succession of power, recently both North Korea and Cuba successfully transferred power from one family member to another, this is similar to a monarchy. Other than that the only other successful successions of power was in the Roman Empire and many of these was with violence.

Up to this point in my life the only people I know that admires hitler are Nazis and white supremacists.

Do tell who do you think would be a good dictator?

Read the start of my OP. Hitler did many great things. He messed up when he went to War. I think he was right and I wish he had won but he was stupid. He was way ahead of himself. He was not great when he went to war because he failed. before that,he was great. But even though he failed,I still think he was right. He was fighting the Bankers. Who do we have the most trouble with? Bankers. Hitler was for the people.

I admire National socialism and after reading about Germany after WW1 I can see why Hitler tried to change things for the better. He did up until he failed to take the Russian red Devils. That was the end.

And I hate that people try to claim that he made people hate jews. It was popular opinion around the world at that time. He just tapped into it for propaganda.

He hated Communists and Bankers.

And like I said, nobody would take jews. have you read about the Voyage of the damned? America sent them back. Nobody would take jews.

The whole problem is him wanting to get rid of jews in the first place, not if anyone would take them or not.

I've been through several wars, been alive for decades, voted since I was able . . and I would prefer a military coup to any more influence of the TeaBags or their pseudo-conservative ilk.

Sorry I don't get the connection? BTW that's not a proverb.

Well, castro is one of my heros actually. I think he is a great man. If you love Batista so much, thats up to you. Im glad they got rid of him.

Im glad they destroyed the CIA when the CIA tried The Bay Of Pigs.

Castro is a great man. He even had the Pope bagging out America recently.

Castro beat America.

I am curious has any American ever packed up their pregnant wife and put their kids on a make shift boat and set sail for the grass is greener on the other side called Cuba?

A certain senator parent's packed up and left and came to America though even Castro was such a "great guy".

Hmmm.

Why? It was Germany. They had taken all the good jobs and there was none left for the Germans amongst other things.

And look what happened once he did pretty much get rid of them. The country turns around over night. They were the problem. They were not going to buy into National Socialism.

Some decided to become Germans. Many fought for Hitler. 150000 of them. Not all jews were against Hitler and his National Socialism. And like I said,a jew nominated Hitler for a nobel peace prize. Her name was Gertrude Stein.

Edit-

"I say that Hitler ought to have the peace prize, because he is removing all the elements of contest and of struggle from Germany. By driving out the Jews and the democratic and Left element, he is driving out everything that conduces to activity. That means peace..."

She was a Jewish author and nobel prize winner.

And 150000 jews fight for Hitler.

Are you sure you have the full story on "the most evil man in history"? Or is it mostly Gaddafi-like BS.

I dont know what to do with you people that have Slave Morality. I dont think Hitler knew what to do either. He wanted a Nation where all were pulling in one direction. All the Germans were. Many Jews were. Many Jews fought for Hitler. A Jew nominated Hitler for a Nobel Peace Prize. Hitler took citizenship away from the jews and tried to make them leave. Nobody would take them Not even America. So he tried to relocate them, that didnt work.

And it was never just jews in those camps. It was undesirables. How do you feed them when you are at war and you have problems feeding your own people? What could he do?

It wasn't just the jews in Germany your great admirer rounded up. He gathered jews from Austria, Hungery, France, Italy, and tried in Denmark. What could he do? Rounded up political opposition and prisoners of war. He exterminate the very people that could not denfend themselves...the disabled, the young, and the old. Within one hour of arriving to Hitler's Auschwitz, children and elderly were torn from their family and killed/gassed with Zyklon-B (an insecticide). Their possessions and money were taken and placed into the German treasury. The gas chambers were known as "Factories of Death" and in 1944-1945 ran around the clock. You admire this monster? Justify it by "What could he do?" That is the reality of dictatorship. Yes, advocating his policies is also advocting his means. History has convicted Hitler and never should someone with his ideals ever rise to power again.

I'm done with this thread. The OP is drowning in willful ignorance.

Understood it quite well someone thinks we need a dictator and I don't because there is no "we" in a dictatorship.

In a dictatorship there is no power of the people it is only the power given by proxy to one individual that from history has shown the majority of individuals become tyrants.

the system of government doesn't determine how successful or moral it is, but rather the character of those involved.

granted, some governmental strategies are less efficient than others, but whether they fall in to corruption or become bastions of justice lies solely with those involved, and most humans cannot hold positions of power without corruption seeping in.

Again, what could he do? Do you think America is better for cutting people from welfare and leaving them to starve? You think thats better? I dont. Why dont you put those poor homeless Americans out of their misery? There are so many of them. what is wrong with you people?

And Hitler couldnt feed these people unlike America. What could he do?

This is where you lose me, buddy. You start talking about eradication and genocide, and you start to lose the ground you were gaining by becoming that which you claim you were trying to distance yourself.

By insinuating that Gertrude Stein endorsed Hitler with anything but ironic indignation is to simply speak out of ignorance. She said Hitler should get the Noble Peace prize because he created peace by silencing opposition. A far cry from true peace.

I have to agree that Castro did some good for Cuba. I don't agree with dictators but yeah he got rid of Batista, the Mob and all the American capitalist corruption.

A nationalist revolution helped by Russia (only because America wouldn't), that's why the US placed embargo's, and labeled them "communist" in order to trigger Americans conditioning of demonized terms. Cuba is neither communist or socialist, it is a nationalist dictatorship with no plans for worker ownership, socialism.

It would have been better for the people to take over, but the people of Cuba, like all people, don't realise their own power, and always look for a "leader", and we're all taught that government is necessary.

What is really causing Cuba's problems though is not the dictatorship but the embargoes, as Cuba relies heavily on imports. America is punishing Cuba for stopping their exploitation.

Ok, now I understand. All of your ills are the fault of the U.S. and you graciously provide us with your idea of a solution of a dictatorship, although you have no desire to live in one yourself.

Hypocrite.

No need to waste any more time on this thread.

Both America and Cuba would be very surprised.

America's last experience with that kind of talk,,emptied Cuba's Prison's.
Lets see the real Cuban people.

Meh. A "good dictator" is always preferable to a democratic system, representative or direct. The latter is almost always inefficient and slow. However I don't believe we can count on there always being a "good dictator", it's too much of a risk to give so much power in the hands of one person. If that person turned out to be a poophead and got total control over the military and wanted to stay in charge, it would have horrible consequences.

Anyways, some points about your OP. Julius Caesar might have been a "tolerant" person by the standards of the time, but he was still an extremely brutal man. Murder, genocide and slavery were all tools in his arsenal in his path of conquest and domination. He sparked a civil war in Rome and brought the Imperial era, which was ultimately the cause of Romes downfall. As for Hitler and German technological superiority at the start of WW2, it isn't true at all. The Wehrmacht had horrible material when compared to its neighbors, especially the French. Most German tanks were outdated, they had no strategic bombers, and industry wasn't utilized properly for war conditions. It wasn't until 1942 that Germany started preparing their industry fully into wartime production, and it took until 1943 for them to reach proper production, both in quantity as well as quality.

For a comparison, in 1941-1942 Germany was still producing so little airplanes that even the British out-produced them, and in tank production Germany was only slightly ahead of Britain. Compare that to the Soviet Union, which had started large scale military production in the 1930's, and by the time of Operation Barbarossa had 25,000 - 30,000 tanks (though mostly outdated).
