2012 Indy 500 Weather: Record-Setting Heat Possible On Sunday

Temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s, and when you factor in the humidity, the heat index will feel like the upper 90s to near 100. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a heat advisory for central Indiana for the entire weekend.

The previous heat record for the Indy 500

In 1937, the temperature hit 92 degrees during that year's Indianapolis 500. Fans haven't seen hotter weather on race day since, but it appears that streak may end this weekend.

Gonna be a hot one this year folks.

Any fellow ATS'ers heading out to the track for the race on Sunday? I know I'll be there. If you are make sure you have a cooler packed with water if you don't want to shell out 4 bucks a bottle come race day. Bring the sunscreen too.

I am in Ft. Wayne - north of Indianapolis and
today it was unbearably hot. All those going
to the Indianapolis 500 and other celebrations
this weekend please be prepared for the heat.
Stay safe.
