Paul Solman of PBS Newshour recently went to a conference run by a California think tank called Singularity University to learn the future of human workers.

Solman noted that as far back as the Roman empire, people had worried about being displaced by machines. Emperor Vespasian, who built the Coliseum, refused to use labor-saving technology to move heavy columns. In more recent times, thinkers have worried that technological progression and increasing automation will only benefit the highly-educated and wealthy, leaving everyone behind.

“We don’t want it to be that there’ll 20 or 30 billionaires controlling everything, and the rest of us struggling for the one or two jobs that are out there,” said economist Richard Freeman.

Whle there are 'technically' enough resources to sustain everyone, assuming they were divided a bit more evenly, the Georgia Guidestones are starting to make alot of sense. This is when you take into account the future of automation. Your services will simply not be required anymore unless you have a highly specialized job. This won't just affect manufacturing either, as the more advanced the technology becomes, the more obsolete humans will become.

Alas, a hand full of billionaires will control the future while everyone else scrambles for the crumbs, perhaps destined to live in a dystopian society that has been predicted in Sci-Fi films, time and time again.

Its bad news every passing day for the earths average common folk.

First, we were considered LUCKY to be slaves fo our entire lifespans here doing back-breaking labor for long hours a day, being separated from our families and away from having our own life. NOW, we will soon be considered "LUCKY" to be able to find lose change on the ground to buy something to eat so that we dont starve to death.

The "LUCKY" ones will be those who are able to locate the travel paths of billionaires and follow them around wherever they go from day to day in hopes of seeing them drop some change on the ground so that we can have something to buy a piece of bread in times ahead...

Worst and worst outlook every with passing day. Anyone bringing children into this world anymore is an IDIOT. Total IDIOT.

I hate to agree, but yes, having children at this point seems almost reckless. Things will get allot worse before they get before, IF they ever get better...
