Army propagandist admits to smear campaign against journalists

rt.com

The co-owner of an information operations firm hired by the US government to flood foreign nations with pro-American propaganda has admitted to orchestrating a smear campaign aimed at journalists critical of the company.

Camille Chidiac, a part owner of Leonie Industries and the company’s former president, issued a statement on Thursday confirming that he was behind a poorly constructed attempt at discrediting two USA Today reporters that wrote about his company’s controversial operations abroad, particularly in Afghanistan where the American military has conducted combat operations fo

It's just a shame that a direct link between this company and the D.O.D. wasn't proved because it probably exists. Is there any tactic these scumbags won't try to cover their tracks abroad? And how many other smear campaigns were carried out?

Shortly after their article “U.S. 'info ops' programs dubious, costly” was published, websites, Twitter accounts and Wikipedia entries were created in the names of Brook and Locker presumably to discredit the reporters. At the time, a Web expert speaking of the smear campaign to New York Magazine explained, "The person who's behind this, we can give them a lot of credit here and assume they're very sophisticated about reputation attacks” and that "This is the work of somebody who knows what they're doing. They have some experience of covering their tracks. This is probably not the first time they've done something like this."

We have been saying it all along, that there is a campaign to discredit information from journalists and perhaps even online discussion forums and independent bloggers.

Anything that breaks the cycle of brainwashing and opens up an individual to freedom is hampered immediately. IT is easier to brainwash a person, but when they wake up to the truth they will never go back and will be the resistance commanders that they will face in the future.

I guess we should demonize the "gatekeepers of information" if they speak out against 'Merica.

Godd*** the USA.

The very fact that propagandism is REQUIRED by the USA in order to achieve ANY of its goals, renders those goals empty of all moral value. Its utterly bogus.

The difference between a democratic nation, and a totalitarian one, is the purity of its aims and the way those aims are realised. If the tools used by a nation that claims to be democratic resemble those tools wielded by tyranny, then there is no real difference between them.

The USA shouldnt even HAVE a propaganda department, nor should it rent such services from outside sources.
