Could Being Ambidextrous Improve Brain Function?

I've been playing guitar for about 12 years now. For the past 6 years, I've played between 2-8 hours a day (sometimes 10 hours).

I love it, and I just can't stop. It's my meditation if you will. I am basically self-taught, I have never had any real lessons before.

One of the lessons I received came from an old man on the street when I was pretty young. He listened to me play, and then said:

"See that looks good, but you've gotta look at it like this..."

Right hand - Strumming/picking hand = Emotion

Left Hand - Fretting hand = Logic

--- I always remembered that, because it greatly improved my playing. I'd be less stiff with my right hand, really helped me get the sounds I wanted out. ---

But then I realized... Wait... But that's BACKWARDS to the way the Brain works. (Right hemisphere = Emotion, Left = Logic) ---- Left hand is connected to Right side of brain, right hand is connected to Left side of brain.

Meaning that playing the guitar = going AGAINST the grain.

Basically I've linked that the guitar is not only strengthening my brain's hemispheres, but also training them to WORK with EACHOTHER.

Yes, working with both hands does help your brain functions & co-ordination.
Absolutely!
I now type using 3 fingers from each hand, sometimes switching thumb & finger.
Watch out for my typo's

Ronnie O'Sullivan (the only snooker player ever that is actually referred to as a genius) is ambidextrous. He can strike the ball just as well with both hands, and even does this in world championship finals. And that's not even why he's a genius, it's the mind-boggling creativity that goes into his shots.
So there could be some truth in this.
