New York Senate bill seeks to end anonymous internet posting

"A web site administrator upon request shall remove any comments posted on his or her web site by an anonymous poster unless such anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post and confirms that his or her IP address, legal name, and home address are accurate. All web site administrators shall have a contact number or e-mail address posted for such removal requests, clearly visible in any sections where comments are posted."

What is it with these damned politicians stealing our freedoms one by one. Anonymous political discourse is as old as our nation. Who are they to say "the founding fathers had it wrong". The first amendment exists for a reason. They have the journalists tamed, now they want to control our last bastion of the free exchange of information. When will we say ENOUGH! I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore! Americans, it is time to turn off your tv. It is time to demand that the government stop this assault on our freedoms. Will you stand? Or will you cringe before their might and power and cower as worms? Our fates are being decided by cretins who despise us. Who see us as cogs in their machine at best, expendable cogs at that.

In a way I agree. And in a way I disagree.

It really depends on the situation.

Spreading the word is a very important action, but not the only action that needs to be taken. No matter how much I do myself, it will make more of an impact if many people act.

I am sorry, but have you considered the ramifications for stalkers and cyber bullies actually being able to find out where YOU live? That pales in importance to the fact that someone like bammy could decide that those of us opposing his socialist agenda(or bush with his neocon agenda) need to be silenced. Especially since he can declare us "terrorists" and use a drone to kill us. Until the nation is ready to rise up, anonymity is our only defense against tptb.

If I had to give my home address over to post here .. I simply would not.
There are too many whackadoos who show up.
And too much of a chance of hacker-whackadoos getting ahold of my home address.

It simply wouldn't be worth the risk.

We are in agreement then. Both sides are against the people.

Our government is OUT of control. Completely. They are so obviously not working for the people of this country. What is it going to take? I feel like I am in some sort of weird twilight zone episode. I don't understand how the majority of people in this country don't see all the b.s. going on. I asked a girl at work what she thought about the drones in the US. She had no idea. Wow. I don't get it. How are the adults in this country not paying attention? Must be the ongoing attack on us with fluoride, aspartame and useless vaccines. I am so frustrated with they way things are going down. We the people need to nip this.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with much of what you say. I don't know what it will take to wake the rest of the people in this nation. I hope whatever it is happens before it is to late, but I fear that it will not. I fear this once great nation will just go gently into that good night.

Sadly it appears to be all nations are dealing with some kind of b.s. There is an agenda, and I do not like where it is heading.

There is an agenda. Agenda 21 among others.

Why must cowards be able to use anonymity?

If you truly believe in what you are saying...good or bad...then you would not care who knows what you said.

I hate cowards and as long as anonymity is around, they will never be held responsible.

I also do believe that if your not someone who talks a lot of sh*t but still afraid of anonymity being taken away..your up to no good..and do not want to be found out.

Hackers, child molesters and other such deviants come to mind.

How about bammy and his killer drones? How about ndaa and his new power to declare anyone a terrorist and "disappear them"? It isn't cowardice, it is self defense. I would face bammy or any other politicrap man to man any day.
