Or you could simply get another sim card (you get free ones in UK) and just give that number out.

It's hardly an end to all scenario.

Gmail does the same.

You know you can just skip that step right?

vvv

Indeed but it wont be possible for long! It is worrying as when I tried to sign up some blogs recently they were asking me for my google signin, my gmail is linked to a real identity so I left it until I can set up some new prepays far away from where i stay

Remember the Nazis took the socialists/communists then the trade unionists before they came for the Jews. Who will be taken first this time round? The bloggers? Conspiracy theorists? Be careful out there. They have awesome power in their hands which you wouldn't even believe.

Some articles on NSA spying to get you started.
www.wired.com...
publicintelligence.net...

Edit, just found this article about the FBI spying on skype and facebook from yesterday
mashable.com...

To be honest, if companies/Govts etc. want your number they can get hold of it without you knowing anyways.

Nothing's hidden any more. I'm not saying bow down to the boss but seriously just don't look into this too much! It's a number. Either you give it to them or they just find it themselves.

I don't like facebook.....maybe I'm weird, but I feel like it is like a sort of "people database".....a tricky way to get people to willingly submit themselves for scurtiny by more than just friends. Think about it.....what better way to collect info on people?

I look at it this way, if I give my number, then maybe KFC might contact me about a free meal deal and that would be all thanks to me giving my number to facebook.

Sometimes look at a made up positive side to things, you'll then smile ...

Give a false phone number.

Plus, if it's a free account then I truly don't see the need to confirm one's identity.

Damn the government.

I haven't been on Facebook in quite sometime now. I didn't like their adverising cookies following me around on the internet. I definately like you will not stand for the phone number thing. They are not selling my phone number for profit to advertisers and telemarketers which is probably what they want to do.

The stock issue, I find amusing and silently think the company got too big too fast and too eager to play the game the government wants them to do. So, I think what's going on with their stock they got what they deserved. Like Google, Facebook, is another company who can't just be content with being a phenomenon and used by nearly everyone. Not me, I stay away from the buttinski companies and refuse to give them what they want which is more money. I would be grateful for just a minisicule amount of what Zuckerberg is "worth" my opinion of these people is they have too much already and couldn't spend it all in generations, unless we go to hyperinflation, and they live to be hundreds of years old.
and maybe just a wee bit envious, but still wouldn't want "that" much money. Just enough...to survive on, and to help if needed.
