Iraq’s navy was given approval in the last week to purchase unarmed surveillance drones from the United States. The move is meant to help the countries Navy keep a better eye on oil fields as tensions continue to mount in the Persian Gulf.

Um.. Shouldn't this read: "Puppet Government in Iraq to 'buy' drones from the US to protect US strategic interests" haha!

Ok so maybe its not that big of a deal, i just think that the use of drones is barely getting off the ground. Soon they will be everywhere, watching and 'protecting' you from the sky.

Does the US use military drones in Iraq still? Also, i wonder who will fly these? Does the deal of purchasing allow the Iraqi's themselves to fly them or does the US do the flying and 'protecting'???

Thoughts?!

The article says these drones 'sold' are surveillance only, not weaponized so really they would probably do Iran no good at all anyways. Secondly, the software/hardware they use to control the drone is most likely US made/controlled so even if they did sell them to Iran, it may or may not work anyways

Iran already has their own drones they have built AND supposedly shot down a drone and then made little US drone toys afterwards to distribute to children in Tehran
