1 AU = ~150 million kilometers
1 LD = Lunar Distance = ~384,000 kilometers

There is also a difference in the composition of asteroids compared to comets.

Asteroids are more solid sometimes called "little planets" they do not break up in the atomsphere like comets tend to.

seriously though we will be alright in 37 years on this planet i have heard all sorts of things supposed to hit the earth i.e asteroids but they never and always pass without a hitch.
