My vote as I mentioned in a Rant on ATS a few months ago have to go to Apollo 18 as the worst sci-fi movie I have ever seen.

I just saw battleship and give it a thumbs down, but it wasn't that bad, just rather stupid in several areas.

Troll 2, Puppet Master and Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.

Battlefield Earth was silly but it doesn't qualify as worst. Plan Nine was (unintentionally) funny. Actually there's stiff competition for worst movie. You'd think there was a prize being offered.

"Vegas Vampires" (2003) comes real close to being worst. It had some experienced actors, so it could have been better, but it wasn't. The dialogue, plot, acting, backgrounds, costumes, and "special effects" were all from hunger. Seeing it will make you feel good -- because you can't be blamed in any way for it, and because you could have written - even acted - better than that.

Hmmmmn

For me its a toss up between the Bewitched remake with Nicole Kidman and Inglorious Bastards which to me was just the film industry slapping each other on the back.. It was shiiite!

Are you kidding me? That is a genius movie. Totally adore the aliens in that, particularly the bit where they are laughing at the stupid humans for meeting them again after blasting them first time round.

Few possibilities for me........Pearl Harbour (sheer rubbish), Titanic (how much money did they spend for such a sh** film?), any cheap, crappy straight to tv movie........

Better suggestions for most over rated movies though, such as The Matrix (or anything with Keanu in a serious role), Lord of the Rings (wake me up for the fights), John Carter, etc.

Now I know why I've never seen 'the room'. Was the guy with the black hair sleeping with someone to get that part?
Funny as hell though, thanks for that.

Hands down it has to be The Village.

Oooh yes good choice.
The thing I hated about other than the sheer boredom is that I guessed the twist half way through the movie.
I didn't do that with "The 6th sense" and I even liked "Unbreakable", other than "Sign's" all his other movies are garbage.

@ Theron: I know it's a terrible movie, but it's like a guilty pleasure for me and I watch it when ever I see it on.

I am a M. Night Shayamalan fan.

But man, the worst movie ever, was Lady in the Water.

Good god, it was horrible. Now that I mention it, it brings back all the bad memories of the movie, utter rubbish.

vvv

It's Manos: The Hands of Fate. There are a lot of bad movies out there but I've never found one worse than this.

By the way there's actually a site that is dedicated solely to bad movies. Anything with a skull rating is definitely in the running for worst movie ever.

My award goes to George Clooney and The American. I can't even give an honest review because in 45 years of cinema going , that was the only time I fell asleep .
Mind you , I think Clooney fell asleep before I did . Probably while first reading the script

By far, the worst movie I've ever seen is 1996's "The Stupids" (starring Tom Arnold). That should really tell you right there.

The trailers for this made it seem like a spy flick, and that maybe this stupidity was like their cover.

Not so.

My friends and I went and saw this in the theater (I think it ran for like 2 weeks). About 15 min in, they begged to leave (by then, any other audience members had).

It was the ONLY time I've actually seen all of the audience walk out of a film. We stuck it out, thinking it HAD to get better. No dice. When we left, we saw one usher paying another (obviously he lost the bet).

Oddly enough though, years later...if you go into it EXPECTING to see the worst movie ever made, it can kind of be pretty funny....as you just can't see it getting any worse, yet somehow, it does, with every scene. Even the celeb cameos can't save this thing.

To me, you can't lump indies, or TV movies in here. When it comes to the WORST movie, has to have been out in theaters expecting box office returns. This says it all:

The film was a major box office failure, grossing just $2,415,593 in the U.S. Tom Arnold won the 1996 Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor for his performances in Big Bully, Carpool and The Stupids.[2][3] The Stupids was also nominated for the award for Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.

Just watched the worst movie in my opinion. It was a movie called Rubber

Summary from netflix

In this inventive twist on low-rent revenge flicks, a car tire named Robert rolls through the desert Southwest, using its strange psychic powers to blow everything up. But when Robert spies a gorgeous woman, he decides to take a chance on love.

I did not make it through the whole thing.
