Blow dart attacks in NYC

I travel to NY very often and even though this issue seems isolated it still is very troubling.

Police say three men - ranging in age from 40 to 66 - were hit by darts around 7 p.m. Sunday in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn. The men were hit in the back, stomach and legs.

was there anything on TV at the time that may have perhaps made a drunk bloke feel like he's a jungle sniper?
