it is not his job to retaliate especially not at a premiere .

No man has the right to go up to another man and kiss him on the mouth.

Will Smith should have slapped him much harder.

NO .. not at a premiere ..this is what some of you dont understant
he was not in the street doing his personal things ..
the push was enought .. but slaping a fan like that in front of millions of fans
not appropriate

It was very appropriate and I am sure 99% of the human population fans or not understood it as justified.

Will is a human being, not a living walking etiquette book.

Well, it seems you are the only one thinking it was inappropriate...
I am a "fan" of Will Smith (he is very talented, in my opinion) and I found it highly appropriate....many fans will be happy he done such a thing...showing he isn't a drone...

How is it not "his place" to stand up for HIMSELF.....what is it with this "that is the job of the bodyguards"?

Come on man, let the man defend HIMSELF...stop with this...."let someone else protect him" garbage...that is ridiculous.
I would defend myself and so would you...against anything saw as an attack...

Like another said....stop judging him by his "fame"....

Yes, the fans made him rich by buying his work, his art.....and the "fans" (at least the ones posting here) seem to be in agreement that it was NOT inappropriate.

He did not slap a fan, he slapped a homosexual predator making inappropriate sexual advances. He should have done much more.

You don't have to be homophobic to object to someone trying to kiss you.
Sexuality is irrelevant, it was a very inappropriate thing to try to do to ANYONE. He was right to get angry.

Is this what the gay activists mean by equal rights?

Sorry. A gay man trying to force his attentions on a hetrosexual man is not equality. Nor is it normal.

When i saw the vid at first .. was pretty funny
but i had a second though about the second gesture of Will
he pushed the guy away .. would have done the same thing
and my bodyguards would swarm at him right after .. probably arrest him
now look where this got him .. the video is already everywhere on YT
a guy like will smith have the responsability to control himself in public

Like i say .. he already pushed him aways
no need to extend the arm to punch the fan
the first inapropriate gesture was from the guy who kissed him
i know there is some culture that do that ..
but it was really stupid trying to kiss him like that

but it is not the fan in question who have hundred of millions in banks
fortune made by all the fans who LOVE him

I am a fan of Will Smith and I approve his action in this matter. I think he acted with much restraint given the provocation offered.

What is your fixation with his "fame" and "riches"...
And his "bodyguard swarming".......wth?

Why?
What kind of politically correct pussified (can I say that here?) world do we live in where a grown man needs bodyguards to protect him from some guy that steps over the line? Jesus man.....that is just ridiculous...seriously!

I would venture to say that Will doesn't really give much of a *$%& about what people think about that action....if fans are "outraged" or "pissed" or whatever because the man done what most others would...then let them be...who the hell cares....I know I wouldn't...

The politically correct fans could be weeded out...I am pretty sure with his "fan base" he doesn't much care about the 4 or 5 or ever how many might quit buying his product just because of this....

LOL

simply ridiculous argument....to act like his action was inappropriate...I don't buy it...

Not sure why I am even still posting about this trivial pop culture garbage....(Guess I got "sucked in"...hey, it happens)

The world has gone to hell and we are over-analysis what boils down to a "love tap, bitch smack"..........

So if I was at a premiere and I tried to kiss Jennifer Aniston full on the lips like this it would be ok?

Of course not, I'd probably be arrested and charged with at least some sort of harrassment charge but most likely some sort of sexual offence and placed on the offenders register - I fail to see how this is any different.

Sexuality is irrelevant; you can't go around doing things like that - me, I'd have kicked the crap out of him.....and I assure you I'm not a homophobe.

I don't think he kissed him on the mouth, but I still agree with your statement. I don't know what the customs of the culture are in Moscow but there are a LOT of cultures who greet with a kiss on both cheeks, which is what it looked to me like he was doing. I think he could have handled himself a little better though.

This guy is reportedly known to do this kinda thing. Seems he's an attention seeking freak like that.

He did try to kiss him on the lips, and that is not appropriate at the best of times.

Will handled it well imo. lol makes a hilarious video tho!

He's a human being, man. He has the right to protect himself! Who cares how rich he is and how many body guards he has, he has the right to protect HIMself.

The reporter deserved what he was dished out. Plus imagine if the bodyguards were there. Then what would have happened? Reporter gets tackled to the floor and big scene happens, the premiere has to be postponed just to clean up the mess on the floor. It seems to me that he is lucky to get a small slap on the cheek.

And it's Will Smith, he acts so much like a white guy, he deserves to bring out some character once in a while.

AND another thing, Will is still rich! lmao! Come on, man. He doesn't have to protect his career and his money, especially with this new movie coming out. Will Smith is hardly ever in the news anyway, someone tell me if you see this on inside edition

Op, did you read the article in full?
It states that this "reporter" is notorious for trying to kiss men on the lips. Where do people (especially strangers) get off thinking they can go around kissing people on the mouth?

Many years ago, I was at a bar waiting in line for the bathroom when a woman came up and kissed me on the neck. I'm a woman, by the way. Well, I was really ticked off at this because I don't appreciate ANY strangers no matter what their gender is, coming up and kissing me. It just so happens that I'd attended high school with the bouncer, so he was quick to act and kicked her out of the bar.

People are more than entitled to their personal space. If someone violates that space, they need to be put in their place.

(In all honesty, I have to say that the only person I've never met that could approach me and kiss me without asking first is Johnny Depp. Does this make me a hypocrite since I'm giving him a free pass?
)

Violence?

That was a simple "tap"....he didn't even smack the guy that hard....it was more of a "get the hell of me" kind of "smack" with the back of his hand, nonetheless...

I would have done the same thing....
I mean, he let the guy hug him and didn't even really seem to mind the first kiss on the cheek...watch the guy...he was all over him, grabbing him up trying to kiss and kiss him....and in the mouth! He doesn't know if the guy might have "had something" (none of us do)

I don't think it was inappropriate at all and has nothing to do with him being homophobic.....as a straight guy (that isn't homophobic) I would have the same reaction....

Live and let live but don't encroach on me...that is what I say....
This guy was encroaching on his personal space....the hug was fine...the first kiss on the cheek was fine...but the one aimed at his mouth and the other 4 or 5 attempts at both sides of his head....NOT appropriate at all, in my opinion...

Like Will said....."he's lucky I didn't sucker punch him"

I can not say I would have been so calm....I would have probably hit him with a closed fist....(but of course, some would find me to be a bit of an ass...lol)

jackal is right on with this one. its not like will smith was being a jerk at all, he let the guy in for a hug initially. besides it was just a little back hand smack. not like a big open handed crack across the face. and for all you sally's out there who think will smith was too mean or hard on this guy, well, all I can say is I hope you people are groped or harassed some day in some way that make you feel uncomfortable, or uneasy so you can be put in the same position, and feel what he felt. Me, I probably would have made that guy swallow a tooth or two.

It was not a punch, in any way, shape, or form.

It was hardly a slap. It was a light backhand, repeat LIGHT backhand, to show the guy how inappropriate it was.
I think he held back rather well.

The guy is lucky he didn't get worse.
Will was perfectly justified, the guy tried to force a kiss on Will's mouth, you see will move his head 3 times going no.

Will is American, in America, we don't do this. At most, one kiss on the cheek if you know each other. the elite society may do this.

It is standoffish, i know. But we have a weird thing about personal space.
but you try to kiss someone who doesn't want it, you get bitch slapped.

But Smith should have traveled the world enough to know that other countries do this, if indeed the guy was trying to kiss both cheeks, now that i have watched it again, it is hard to tell.

some aquaintences dealt with WS on a business level, they say he is a dick. So who knows.
