I saw this today on yahoo, and would like to share it with you. No conspiracy here, and not the typical political garbage we are used to seeing. Regardless of one's opinion's about his politics, it still stands to reason that Reagan was a class act. It is a letter written in response to a boy who had written him about his mother declaring his room a "disaster area".

Dear Andy: I'm sorry to be so late in answering your letter but as you know I've been in China and found your letter here upon my return. Your application for disaster relief has been duly noted but I must point out one technical problem; the authority declaring the disaster is supposed to make the request. In this case your mother. However setting that aside I'll have to point out the larger problem of available funds. This has been a year of disasters, 539 hurricanes as of May 4th and several more since, numerous floods, forest fires, drought in Texas and a number of earthquakes. What I'm getting at is that funds are dangerously low. May I make a suggestion? This administration, believing that government has done many things that could better be done by volunteers at the local level, has sponsored a Private Sector Initiative program, calling upon people to practice voluntarism in the solving of a number of local problems. Your situation appears to be a natural. I'm sure your mother was fully justified in proclaiming your room a disaster. Therefore you are in an excellent position to launch another volunteer program to go along with the more than 3,000 already underway in our nation—congratulations.
Give my best regards to your mother.
Sincerely, Ronald Reagan

It's nice to see that a President actually took time to respond and not receive the standardized White House bullsh*t answer. Old Ronnie knew how to win people over... still doing it from his grave now... :-)

Nice post and break from the muslim socialist activities....thanks for posting

Wow... Isn't that just incredible to think a President, with all that job carries, made the time to respond to a letter like that? As you say, 100% and all politics out the window for a moment...he was a heck of a man. One of the books on my shelf here is a non-fiction on the Secret Service I grabbed going through an airport a couple years back and the anecdotes from Agents included a few about the Reagan family as people..not politicians. I guess he'd be known to send his own money on occasion and in complete privacy when a letter really touched him the right way.

Whatever Ronald Reagan did as a Politician and a President, good or bad, I can't help but think he touched a lot of lives in so many ways.

What struck me was the Disasters he mentioned in the letter. It seems we have come full circle with these same problems. This was about the time they were talking about the Ozone layer depleting and being the cause of "Global Warming".

Other than that, this is why my Grandparents Loved the Guy.
